Ah, but this does have everything to do with the DOJ case. IANAL but I've seen several mentions of how the DOJ case may be used as a precedent in civil cases, making them virtual slam-dunks.
That's why I think MS is willing to settle when their normal style is to fight to the end.
I would never willingly go back to dialup. We are house shopping right now and have eliminated whole neighborhoods from consideration because there's no broadband service.
Both our computers (my G4 & her Compaq) shipped with internal modems and neither has ever been used even once.
But then we have OUTSTANDING cable service (comcast@home in Sarasota). In 3 years of service I don't think our total downtime would add up to 24 hours.

No - Microsoft bought a pittance of non-voting stock some years ago and promised to continue producing Office for the Mac to settle some pesky lawsuits Apple had brought against them.
Sadly (or not in this case) I am the only Slashdotter I know.
Our friends are more the pool party type crowd. I don't talk computers with them and they are gratefull.
True to a point but there's also something to be said for having the party at home.
You can invite a bunch of friends & have a place for all to sit & drink w/o the crowd of NYE at a bar.
You can get naked with said friends & have a big orgy.
You can consume illegal substances at your own leisure w/o fear of LEO's ruining your evening.
When it's all over, you can carpet the house with sleeping bags and no one has to risk driving whilst intoxicated.
971 songs loaded in the iPod, iPod plugged into the stereo, iPod set to 'random' play.
Hot tub is hot, crank up the volume, break out the booze, unwrap the fireworks. 15 or so good friends show up & suddenly it's a party!
... iPod ...
Love it! This is going to replace carrying a large CD case back and forth to work every day and get the boom box off my desk.
Has there ever been a movie that's been "as good" as the book?
Jaws was a great movie made from a mediocre book.

Okay I admit my newest CD player is a couple years old but what is an "optical" out?

That fan would be worth a fortune now (as a rarity) since the Mac Plus didn't have a fan.
