How long before someone cracks the app for free long distance calling or even more creative things? There are many security issues here. Besides, I wouldn't want to have to wait for my own phone line!
if you go flat fee, get your requirements up front! make sure they are very detailed about what they want. once that's done, guestimate how many hours it will take to do, multiply that number by three and half. now, mupltiply THAT number by the hourly wage you'd like to get - $25/hour is a good start. if that number is too high or low, adjust accordingly. if the hours are going to be pretty high - over 40, go with a high estimate since it will probably take more time than what you expect.
of all the illegal data out there, most of it is pr0n. how's the pr0n industry doing? business is up. so why should the mpaa or riaa be worried about illegal copies of music or movies? it doesn't effect the pr0n industry, and the products are all the same - sound and video.
i would take down the outright copies, but everything else should stay. there will be plenty of a legal battle with that. FREE SPEECH!! is it time to break out the colored ribbons again?

Now that you're banning the users and suing the company, how do you think that will affect the future of Metallica's popularity?

It sounds like they're detecting an emotional response. Which in my opinion, many people could use a computer controlling/filtering those responses. Just think, no more road rage!! The USPS should invest heavily in this research...
