    Maybe the fact that the US gets a LOT of money from the fees companies use to register those patents, and the defensive ones used to fight them? It's like asking why an arms dealer, who deals to both sides, wouldn't want to make ammunition harder to get...

    Right, let's fight the broken patent system by registering (paying for) a bunch of patents and making the patent office rich in exchange for literally NOTHING. I wonder why they didn't get much support in this endeavour...

    Bait & Switch is when you advertise one product, then when the person shows up, you tell them it's not available and try to sell them something else. Discontinuing a no-longer-advertised product (and a FREE one at that!) is not even close to a bait & switch.

    Satellite ratio is not very popular, thus a monopoly really isn't a threat since anyone could start up a competitive company without much problem. Having a monopoly on GSM is *bad* since a LOT of phone are GSM-only. Remember the shit-fit everyone threw when the iPhone was only available on AT&T? Imagine if ALL gsm phones were only available on one carrier!

    I had to add a single line to a text file and recompile the kernel (5 minutes once I knew what to do). Windows simply WOULDN'T. I downloaded the sata/ahci drivers but there is this REALLY cool catch-22 in xp. Obviously it won't boot in ahci until it has the drivers, but windows apparently thinks it's smarter than you and PREVENTS you from installing ahci drivers when running in ide mode. Yeah, THAT was helpful!

    A vote for Colemak over here. Then again, ANYTHING* is better than qwerty.

    * ok, there is 1 worse. The *&%#& bilingual keyboard with it's half-sized shift key. I speak both english and french, but can't stand that EVERY bloody laptop (possibly apple excluded) only has half a left shift key.

    There have been wireless sd cards for a while, but they were mostly one-way bluetooth. Believe it or not, this actually IS an improvement.

    No, but it make it much faster and simpler to download the photos to your laptop. Or possibly even to upload them to your server via McDonald's or Starbucks (free wifi for the win).

    I've heard of some special (ceramic?) guns made that would make it through a metal detector and bullets are small enough to hide in the tray you slide past the metal detector with you watch/change (strangely those don't usually go through the scanner), though I'm not 100% sure they work. I DO however know that they make ceramic knives with NO metal, they are very common in marine work.

    Or at least a functional terminal emulator so we can make an cli ssh client that doesn't need to spawn it's own god damn gui just so it can have a text screen that can re-size horizontally without going though fucking menus!

    Why does RDP have anything to do with HTTPS? Last I checked it sure wasn't website traffic. Doesn't the protocol support straight SSL (or TLS)?

    Unfortunately since the cars still need to stop in order to not run the red light before the trigger changes it, the car still needs to stop. Still better than "timer only" systems.

    This kind of shit affects SSH as well.

    Only if you're dumb enough to actually use passwords for SSH. Does RDP even *support* encryption keys? (honest question)

    Haha, I was just imagining someone playing quake3 in the lineup at the bank and their headphones fall out, activating the external speaker* and gunfire suddenly being heard :P

    * Of course the board only has 1 audio output, but I'm assuming a pre-fab box would include a speaker as well
