I don't know, I'd say the cheekbones and chin were very close and the mouth pretty close. The rest of the face (forehead, etc) is blocked in the actual photo so I can't really comment on that part, but someone who knew the person may recognize that part. All in all, I'd say it would probably be asier for an aquantance to recognize that rendering than the grainy security camera footage the police are currently forced to rely on.
This technique isn't aimed at getting convictions, but finding suspects (the old "please call the police if you recognise this person" news report). Once a suspect (or "person of interrest" as they call it on the news) is found, then they can request, or get a court order for, an actual DNA match. The rendering probably won't even be used in court.
Not arguing your point, just curious why you pointed out that satanism isn't a religion and forgot to mention Atheism (the exact *opposite* of a religion).
It certainly was and is. But that in now way gives one religion more sway then any others, or even those who choose not to believe.
Please stop repeating that crap. Nobody choses to believe or not to believe anything. Did you "chose" to believe in gravity, rain, oxygen or electricity? Or did you simply encounter enough evidence that you were convinced through no intentional decision? Did you sit down one day and dicide not to believe in unicorns, pixie dust or wood nimphs? Or did you never find enough evidence to convince you that they exist.
Nobody choses to believe or not believe something. They can chose to ignore or fabricate evidence (though at some point even this is impossible for most people) or surround themselves with people (maybe once a week) that reinforce their beliefs. If someone does not believe in something, it is not because they chose not to, but because they do not have enough evidence to convince them it exists.
Tell you what, next time I fall off a cliff while hiking I will simply chose not be believe in gravity or sharp rocks.
When you are taking young people (under 13) on extended camping trips, there are expectations of preparedness that are no longer met by "we will build a signal fire and hope somebody finds us before johnny dies from the bear attack, poisonous mushrooms, snake bite, appendicitis, etc." Yes, we work hard to prepare ourselves, and the youth, for these trips, but sometimes shit happens (I know someone who got appendicitis in the bush) and we need to take every reasonable precaution. While most of these issues can be solved with something like a SPOT, we also get a lot of parents now that expect to be able to get ahold of their child should something happen at home (relative in the hospital, etc).
One thing most people don't know (or just forget) that when a phone is in a low-signal area, it automatically boosts the transmit power and can kill a 3 day battery in 12 hours. Even if you aren't using the phone, it still transmits in order to maintain its connection to the cell tower.
If you do a blanket arp attack (like sending ALL traffic through you or trying to knock out the arp table), but if you target 2 specific systems it can become more difficult to detect (though not impossible).
What about trips to the cabin, hiking, hunting, fishing, camping with the scouts, etc?. As a scout leader I need my phone on during outings in case of emergency (either with us or from home) and having my phone only last 24 hours is simply not an option.
They don't have to auction it forever, exhausting future generations rights. It should not be worse than selling Grimms to Disney. Shorten the rights, let our kids have a say.
Actually, this would be a great idea for an adapter. 4 HDMI ports coming in, 1 going out with a selector to chose the output format. You could even have it support the new 4K displays using multiple HDMI ports or a displayport.
One of the reasons I like split view is because more than just the players can be in on it. You can have a party with almost a dozen people watching the match (sometimes switching off on death) and everyone can cheer, praise, etc the players they are watching. With each player using 3d glasses to watch their own game, everyone else in the room can either watch 1 player (if they have glasses) or gets to see a nauseating blur the whole time.
I miss split-screen, it seems like almost every company is dropping it from their games, even the need for speed franchise (where screen viewing isn't even an issue) doesn't offer it anymore.
Depends on your definition of "dead". Technically you can be completely brain dead, but still clinically alive if your organs are still functioning (usually by machine).
Sort of. It is the studios' faults that netflix must license for each country separately and that some movies/shows are more expensive or not available in some countries, but some of these are shows I can see on regular Canadian cable TV, so I'm sure netflix is to blame for at least some of the missing content.
The series I was referring to was actually removed as part of their "regular subscription rotation" or some BS that would not have been a problem had I been able to download the entire series before getting half-way through the damn thing.

OpenSSH comes with an sftp server and enables it by default (only through the SSH tunnel of course). Very few admins actually turn it off.
There are graphical LaTeX editors out there, maybe that's what he meant. Personally I program LaTeX in vim!
etc? vim only has 2 modes.

I wasn't complaining about this particular phone, but bluec's assumption that there is no use-case for a phone that lasts more than a day.

Let's just hope this article doesn't go viral like Andrew Wakefield's B.S. vaccine "study" and fuck up another generation of children.
touché

Actually, I was referring to Disney and the Grimm stories. Next time try reading the entire post.
That still won't protect you from arp poisoning, DNS redirects (or direct forging), SSL Stripping, the list goes on.
You think that's bad? Wait until you run across the issue where your ISP doesn't even both to set up basic passwords on your wireless hub.
Ok, now I'm curious!

Selling implies they paid something.
This, this is why DRM only hurts the honest consumer.
I was comparing "torture followed by death" to "just death", not "just torture".

To be clear, I am NOT endorsing torture! Torture prior to death can be seen as a deterrent, though its effectiveness is questionable.

I've found it runs much faster if you emulate an x86 processor and enable host GPU support.
