Sure, if all you do is watch movies from beginning to end in your living room it works great. There are many things that do NOT work very well:
Offline viewing such as on transit, airplanes, road trips, camping (children get very bored sometimes), etc
Rewind. I should not have to wait 10 seconds for it to re-buffer in order to rewind 3 seconds because I missed an important piece of dialog that was important to the plot. I can't believe the player doesn't just cache the last minute of the video to make this seameless, this would use what, 10-20MB of extra ram?
Forcing high-definition. Sometimes netflix just decides to play in low definiton no matter how fucking long you let it buffer. In fact, letting a movie buffer (download) ahead of time so I can watch it in glorious high-def after dinner would be a VERY nice feature.
Marathon watching. At least once I've been half-way through a TV series when netflix decided to remove it from the line-up. Thanks alot for that one! This isn't even counting the rediculous number of movies trilogies where netflix only has movies 2 and 3 (seriously, WTF).
Internation watching. Live in the US and visit Canada? Get ready to not be able to watch your shows until you get home because Canada is not worthy of 90% of netflix movies.
What you say is true, but there are many secular groups that do this as well. Not only are there dedicated groups that focus on being "a church without the church", but many other organizations also do this. Scouts/Guiding (not quite secular depending on the country) do many of these things, sports teams even do some of those things. There are also many adult-oriented activities with strong communities that get out and do these things.
Just to name a few, there are atheist groups, Linux locos, hack labs, 4x4 groups (we do regular outdoor cleanups with the Turtles group in BC, Canada), Geocaching (my sister and her boyfriend once got full lodging and taken grocery shopping on their way to the Canadian Jamboree simply by asking on the geocaching forums), couch surfing groups, etc. If you are looking for this type of community feel, don't just look at "church replacements". Look at the activities you do and check if there are any local organizations in your area that do that kind of thing, you may just surprise yourself.
The natural tendency for a human should be self preservation. Its an aberration to say 'You want death.'
Says who? Many studies have shown that the natural self-preservation instinct of humans is not nearly as absolute as most people think, and nobody has shown that it "should be". If anything, preservation of the species is what "should" be the natural tendency.
Humans will also often sacrifice themselves for the good of others (running into a burning building, etc). Self-preservation also reduced greatly with age. The elderly are much more likely to accept death than young adults and children.
Some routers have built in dns servers that can have static entries added. It will only work when you are at home, but it doesn't require any settings to be changed on any other machines.
When it comes to schools, and particularly the "How dare you accuse my little angel" parents, you need to do a hell of a lot more than "determine" which student sent it.
I'm not sure how Comcast does it, but when I had shaw do the exact same thing, I was explicitly warned that they would no longer be able to offer remote support for troubleshooting the modem if I left it in bridge mode (they said the can no longer directly connect to it in bridge mode). When I asked how I would get it *out* of bridge mode if a had to, they said I'd have to hard-reset it (note: they put it IN bridge mode remotely after the install).
Even if it doesn't, they are eating into the limited bandwidth of the wireless radio which you may be using for much hungrier things that don't connect upstream (transfering files between a laptop and a desktop for instance). Wireless devices in general also tend to have stability and reliability issues when you start assinging a bunch of extra virtual interfaces to them. THIS is why I always insist on the ISP router being put in bridge mode and connecting my own router into it.
I'm sure it could, but nobody has come up with a simple generic name for them yet like "tissue" or "photocopier". If I remember correctly, the zipper was patented until it became such a household name that they weren't able to trademark it anymore.
From what I read of the article (last month, thanks slashdot), the frequencies it uses are in very restricted bands and would require a very expensive government license to even be allowed to broadcast.
The editors have forgotten about this article. Once a editor posts, the article moves into the past, which is a mysterious place outside of time and space. Such a system allows them to duplicate post about this same topic tomorrow and then again next month.
Oh please, the labour alone for carbon fibre repair (versus aluminum or even fibreglass) is going to be a lot more than 5x the price. Any idiot's nephew at a the local body shop can rivet a piece of aluminum over a forklift hole.
Fine, but I doubt that trailer with it's extra bubble-thing on the front is going to fit very well on other trucks, or the train/boat it comes in on from overseas.
Because lots of people already have Keurig machines which are now a household name. People don't tell their spouse (and/or boss) "let's get an automated single-serving coffee machine.", they say "Let's get a Keurig." (or Tassimo to a lesser extent).
I know people who were like that. Couldn't function without a lot of caffeine. Cut the caffeine to 1 cup a day and after about a week their energy went *way* above what it used to be. Apparently the first week is hell, but it gets much better after that. Caffeine is like most drugs, the more you take it, the less it works.
Also, I'm pretty sure the amount of caffeine you are ingesting (which has been shown to cause heart problems, especially in high quantities like what you are taking) is more than making up for any antioxidants you may be getting.

I forgot to mention, you can also belong to as many of these groups as you like without being called a heathen!

And just where exactly would you take this $200m plane to sell it? I don't think it will fit in your booth at the flee market.

Add a GPS and pre-programmed way-points, problem unsolved.

The fact that you think Apple cares that much about your iPad getting stolen, forcing you to buy a new one, is hilarious.
And mercury.
They don't need to remote-unlock it, just do a fucking password reset. It should take them all of 30 seconds once they've received the legal papers.
Does the UK have that stupid digital-lock law? If so, it would be a crime to break the lock even if it was otherwise legal.
Wow, mind letting us know which ISP you work for so I never accidentally sign up with them?

But how many shops will actually do it instead of saying "we cannot guarantee the work and thus will not perform it"?

You do know how time works right...?

From what I hear, they already patented it and it expired a little over a year ago. This must be their reaction to the expiration.
Damn, someone's going to have to update the graph.
