If you all want so bad that Linux ever beats windows, then quit whining or complaining...what RH does is good. It's about time some major distro takes the big step.
i.e.: If you ever want software companies to write stable software for your pc, you need standardisation. Not libs that change every five seconds. (Ok, maybe not when doing good reverse compatibility of the libs or static linking).
Linux will always stay the geeky OS until someone sets a standard. Don't want a standard? Fine..go use debian or gentoo. They're all good at reinventing the wheel.
Want to compete with a real Desktop OS? Then beat it at where it is best, it's stability (seriously, everybody keeps whining how unstable windows is...linux is stable textbased yeah..but the X-apps have their issues.), secondly: ease of use and very important its popularity by the software and hardware companies.
Go Redhat.
PS: buying a car costs money, food costs money, a descent OS may cost money. There are programmers that like to live of doing what they're good at and love to do.
You really should read the pdf-file. It gives a ton of good reasons why X should be replaced. I can only say: go Y! perhaps work together with the people of xouvert. X is old and must be replaced.
And so is java. I myself have been a java hater for a long time, yet I took a quick look at it again lately and it has changed..really.
Btw, you technology freaks must have some of those latest javagsms right? Is it slow? I think not, it's very well suited for this embedded stuff... And come on..C++ for this? No way...That's like using quantumphysics to count how many beers you had the day before.
I'm a belgian dude myself and can't wait for my E-ID:p
It would be much better if Netscape quit these things and made a good browser first...
These things can be very good, but until it hasn't a very good browser, it's dieing...one day after another. Stop working at these things, don't make heavy browsers with all high-tech stuff like mozilla was supposed to be, make a simple, good working browser.
Thank you.
This looks very good dude!! That is something else than that stupid netscape mail!! Now, all we need is a good browser because Netscape...I don't know. Half of the pages I visit are inpossible to view or aren't viewed as they were supposed to be.
I kind of like Redhat Linux.... I've used Redhat 5.2, Suse 6.2 and 6.3 and now Redhat 6.2 I think Redhat is the best. (personal opinion:) ) I think Redhat is much faster and stable. It's like they build there kernels better than Suse does. I don't know...but one thing I do know: Redhat is good, suse is good, slack is good,.... They all have their good and bad points. Lesson is: never blame somebody else unless you're "bugless" yourself My opinion by HDCooL
It should be nice, fresh, fast, "new" Something like WindowMaker or BeOs itself. Wouldn't it be a great idea if there was a windowmanager for linux like BeOs (Or is there already one? ) Also, I think the "change" from text to graphical should be more fluent. Not so boring gray and then a nice desktop. ( BTW this was for linux )
Wow man!! This is great!!!! I am a C-programmer and I really love Linux. My biggest problem is that I don't know what half of the commands, executables mean. So...doing this would higher my linuxskills and writing an OS is major cool. It's always been a dream and now..... (yeah yeah...hey hdcool, Don't start Dreaming man!) Yeah, I know but we can try hé! And it will be fun!! That's for sure!! Ok, Cya
Cool!! So then there are two backdoors in IIS and Microsoft knows none of them?! Can they be more stupid?? The other backdoor is a bufferoverflow. I don't know the details, but I know this for sure: IIS sucks and is down in one minute.
