How did you get it to access esd? It said in the readme that it supported esd so I just ran it. No sound. Then I tried esddsp gameexec and still no sound. It worked just fine if I killed esd though.
Kaffe is a GPL'd jvm (yes it IS a java virtual machine, not "cloning some aspects of java", its just a clean room implementation) that has been available on tons of different platforms from the beginning. Transvirtuals web page even says so. This doesn't make anything java related run on windows alone or any platform alone for that matter. Journalists just obviously don't know the meaning of research anymore....
not only do programs dump large things in/tmp but half the stuff in there is just named pipes....which don't even matter when it comes to fs performance.....
One thing....does this thing require 3d accel (or at least SOME form of opengl?) just saying this because of the comments about 3d terrain (haven't played it yet...)
after my last big CS assignment (a 2700 line program that I stupidly decided to do at in the last few days) I tried to write the manual, and realized after a while that I had been ending sentences with semicolons.......
I know....I experienced the same thing....ya know why? they didn't strip the precompiled binaries...they're full of debugging symbols (apprunner went from 4M to 800k)....it runs alot faster (than ie NN4.5 or the unstriped version) afterwards...
Does anyone know a mirror that actually has the new rpms? ftp.gnome.org hasn't been responding for hours and none of the mirrors actually have it or just have the tarballs (I compiled 0.99.3, I don't have time to do that again....)

Has anyone tried if the open-jni that was just added to mozilla works? it'd be nice to load that thing in kaffe....
