This post is erroneous. The manipulation you are referring to has been proven with photons alone, however it was also proved that Einstein was correct and no information was allowed to transfer in this manipulation. The concept of exchanging any sort of information faster than the speed of light is still a myth.

A British friend of mine recounted that although the IRA practiced in acts of terrorism, they would call the police and warn them that a bomb was at a certain location 1 hour before it would blow up. The police then had an hour to evacuate the area and attempt to stop the bomb from going off.. I think the IRA's terrorism is less about blowing people up as it is about inciting terror and making political statements. I don't condone that (or any) type of terrorism, but I think it's less negative if that is possible. Then again, im not Irish, don't know the situation that well, and I don't live over there so thats just what I heard.

The arguement to try and save/clean up earth before we move out into space, to get rid of poverty and create equality for everyone first is an old one; an arguement that has been made for many years and still has very little merit IMO.

I think that the endeavour to do something of this nature enlightens us and helps to create technology and increase our understanding of the 'world around us' so to speak. If they cut corners and it crashes, it might be bad for future missions, but if it goes off successfully, then it would be worth it. Besides, I would much rather have that money spent studying a planet in our solar system than creating missle that 20% of the time can shoot down ICBMs, when there are no significant threats of ICBMs. Study pluto, get out there more and develop technologies to help advance our species comprehension, I say.

Throughout history, many scientists have explained experimental results with ever changing taxonification of their types in an effort to expidite comprehension of their effects on our universe. It may be Einsteinian of me, but I still like to uphold the presumption that there will be a beautiful and simple explanation which will bring about the unification of our beliefs in science. Only when this happens can the experimental stop running the show, and the theoretical truly open our eyes to the universe's secrets

I suppose that when iD had 5 people or so, and Romero helped out deciding the gameplay he wasnt actually a MANAGER of anyone, which is what I said. I'm not questioning some of his judgements in terms of style technique or artistic ideology, I am questioning his ability to run and manage a department in a game developement company. I still stand by my original statement:

...anything so far you seem to have helped to manage has turned into crap, and fallen apart.

  23. Re:Garage era games. on Ion Storm Reorganizes · · Score: 1

you make a very interesting point. The problem for game developers is that most people look at pictures of a game on the box on the shelf, and unless they are amazing 3d graphics, dismiss them right there in the store. Developers need to make money, and therefore need to be visually stunning as well. Your 'garage'-era gamers made visually stunning games back then as well.. (now they wouldn't qualify at the same level) but there are other reasons why you have a nostalgic feeling for them (I will presume), more than their actual artistic style (read pixelated 2D art)...

I digress; The real hope is to find developers that can make visually stunning and technologically advances games that portray reality, but at the same time can instill a sense of nostalgia for the future of gaming. A game that can entice the minds and entertain the masses by its gameplay and originality alone; but still keep up with technology and be realistically stunning (or unrealistically stunning, depending on your genre). This is the holy grail for most developers. Many are satisfied with making money churning out games that aren't inspiration but get them a paycheck regularly, and never aspire for more. The majority I believe (and their producers no doubt) want to create a game that meets everyone's desires.. not only for the money but for the venue of success.

Austin has made some good titles, while Dallas has basically only made crap; not a major blow for the video game developement community, except now Romero will claim you are his bitch from another venue, just what we need.

Romero, take a hint and go join some video gaming subculture and keep out of the mainstream attention: anything so far you seem to have helped to manage has turned into crap, and fallen apart.
