I had a very similar experience with my interview for the company I work for now. Basically, 80% of the skills required for the job were stuff I had never done before (primarily the fact that most of my web dev experience was with LAMP. I had never used a Windows server, nor any.NET tech). They went through interview questions anyway, and I answered as well as I could, and was honest about everything I did not have experience with. They said they liked my attitude and were not too worried about experience, rather they wanted someone with a good work ethic that they could train (much of the work would be with their bespoke software anyway). I ended up being made an offer and I took it:)
Also, installing Ubuntu these days is as easy (if not easier) than installing Windows. Unless you want to keep a previous windows installation on a separate partition, it really is easy and intuitive enough that anyone could do it.
Even with marijuana almost mainstream and many states virtually legalizing it we have that nonsense bullshit answer from the White House about how it's an 'additive' drug that needs to stay category 1 illegal.
What we need is "FairTrade" music. Much like the movement for Fair Trade food/coffee etc. we need a label to stick on music that indicated it is fair trade, and then people can boycott music that is not Fair Trade.
Which is why the term is so apt. Fishing is the act of throwing a line out waiting for something to bite (sending unsolicited emails to hundreds and thousands of people and hoping someone will "bite"). Spear fishing requires the identification of a single fish, in the shallow water, and pinning it with a spear. Hence, the precision metaphor.
The pocket defense system you speak of already exists, more or less, in the form of rape alarms (not quite debilitating but certainly annoying) and the serious "sound grenade).
I think you should. If you win, you are striking a blow against an evil organisation. If you lose, you set precedence that proves how silly many copyright infringement/patent lawsuits are. It's win-win.
I think the point being made is that it was a permanent employee, and because of their unions they cannot be fired for anything. A lot of the responses here seem to think it was a contractor that punched the boss, to me it reads like it was a permanent employee.
Yep, it does not affect everyone. It also differs from time to time. Sometimes I will forget to have a coffee on Saturday morning, and get a headache. Other times (also when I forget) I will go a whole weekend without having any, and do not feel a thing.
I am pretty sure coffee has much more caffeine per ml than Mountain Dew. Even most "energy drinks" are not even close to being as caffeinated as filter coffee.
I would disagree, respectfully. I think the percentage/ratio of people who use filesharing for legitimate purposes (Linux distros is a favourite) is the same, if not nearly the same, as the amount of people who use the motorway but have never exceeded the speedlimit (nevermind all those other infractions listed).
I know it says EU and Switzerland, but what about the remaining European countries? Are they bound by some other trade agreement to the ACTA if the EU signs it?
Though not a popular opinion to hold, I agree. Just as I would rather live in a world where every once in a while some people die in terrorist attacks, than be under constant surveillance.
It doesn't. Like your assumption, it is one ignorant guy in need of some attention by suggesting a radical idea. The fact he had good support a while ago seems to suggest he is universally supported but they voices of other MEP's in response to his ludicrous proposition suggests otherwise. Nothing to worry about.
Nothing will ever come of this. One crackpot idea from an idiot who knows nothing about technology does not constitute a reasonable proposal.

If it were China, North Korea or Saudi Arabia who had proposed this, what would we say then? It's scary in a democratic Europe to even hear a politician suggest such a thing. It is so absurd that I really hope we never have to discuss it seriously in Parliament.

The proposal claims to be based on users' rights and claims they are protected, that they should feel safe. He writes at the beginning that he did not want to create a new Big Brother Society. But then the whole document is about just that.

Logitech makes (and made) better pads, sticks, mice, keyboards
Funny you should say that, in the last 6 months I have had 2 out of 3 Logitech mice malfunctioning or DOA right out of the box.
To be fair, most multiplayer happens online now anyway (except with the Wii of course), so your point is less relevant now.
I miss those late nights playing Goldeneye on 4-player, on a tiny CRT TV.

I thought he just made films about annoying people..

It's an additive? I suppose, to space cakes..
otherwise the beatings will continue

I see what you did there.

Ugh that should say "less serious"

I am trying to understand what people miss from KDE, Gnome 2 or other DEs that Unity doesn't have

"Page" 10 of this article is slightly NSFW, just in case you work for rather conservative overlords.
Yeah, that is my point. It mentions EU *and* Switzerland. But no mention of the rest of the non-EU euro countries.

Nah, already other MEPs are pointing out how retarded both he and his idea are.
It's pedos they are going after today, but it's all the same when you look at the bigger picture.
