I started my own company and worked from home for 1.5 years. Worked well, but in retrospect I would suggest that you get an office somewhere away from home.
Most communities have an "Industrial Growth Center" for new companies. I would suggest renting an office there and enjoy your freedom.
A few years back my ex-girlfriend and I went shopping for a game for her.
She liked computer gaming but had one small problem: She would get motion sickness from playing 3d games (FPS were the worst).
So we agreed that a platform game was probably the best option for her. Guess what, not a single store had a platform game for the PC, NOT ONE.
In the end I gave up and downloaded a slew Commodore 64 games and an emulator, worked like a charm.
On another note, if you want to write your own game and avoid a lot of the hassle go and check out Blitz Basic. Easy and allows you to focus on being creative. The downside is that it is windows only.
Sun has offered FREE licenses of Star Office for every student/teacher in all danish schools. It can be downloaded for free, or they can buy a cd for about $1.5.
Mind you these are windows versions we are talking about. No mention of Linux anywhere.
Denmark is flirting with Linux but so far nothing solid has materialized. Time will tell I suppose.
Another interesting purpose for bohcs

could be as a DOS-emulator so that we could still play all the old games.
1. Bike to work
2. Do 30-60 minutes of Wii-Fit every day.
So far I have lost 10 kg over the last 90 days this way.
I would suggest Transmission. It's very OSX'y and works very well.
Get it here:

The indepent game developers thrive. Smaller companies are coming into the marketplace. Take a look at the Independent Games Festival
If you look at the titles you will see a lot of reasonably priced games that are great fun, though they may not be as polished as a AAA title.
A little shameless plug for company I work for: Tribal Trouble
We are an independent developer and we intend to bring fun into games again.
And for all linux gamers you might find Tribal Trouble interesting. It's available for both Linux, Mac and Windows. All with a single license.
Plus it's written in Java, how geeky can it get?

Also crazyball is pretty cool, might wanna check it out too.
If you wish to build coordination skills I highly recommend Martial Arts (almost any form will do).
My personal preference is Taekwondoe, but like I said almost any martial arts will do.
It will build strength, muscle tone, coordination and self confidence.
Plus it's as much mind work as body work. Perfect for geeks.
Naish

Actually with a modchip and x-box media player it makes a great home stereo addon.
Furthermore it plays my mame roms, and runs linux.
It's great value for your money. Just don't start buying the games....
Wrong on some counts....
I agree with your statement that php lacks namespaces and certain other things.
But you can make a nice clean seperation between application and data with php.
As for a clean/well coded project take a look at xoops.
Chances are nobody will see this but as it is somewhat relevant I will ask it anyway.
Does anobody here have a HP Laserjet 1300? This is currently the printer I am considering.
Any negative thoughts or comments regarding this one? I am especially interested if you have problems using linux with it.
My Dell D800 was delivered with an Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 Mini-pci card.
I can't find a driver, so I wondered if anybody knew of efforts to write one.
Another solution would be if somebody could recommend an alternative card for my D800..
I am currently running a self built mp3 playback box from my 800 mhz Epia board.
I strongly suspect that it won't have enough power to do the encoding/decoding of the video streams that you need.
Another site FRIED by slashdot.
Wouldn't it be possible for slashdot to actually cache the articles like google? or at least provide a google cached link or something?
Somehow I don't see slashdot being very popular with the owners of fried servers....
Plus a cache would provide better service to slashdot readers.
Just a thought
I can't believe it, at long last the hardcore open source people see the light and begin charging for their hard work..
........ hey wait a tick......

If anybody has expirience with PHP.MVC or Phrame please elaborate on strength and weaknesses of the two...
:)
Please

make sure you get a nice router to connect your laptop/pc lan to the dsl connection.
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, BUY ANY Eumax equipment. This stuff is usually Telekom branded and it SUCKS bigtime.
I would suggest buying a small netgear DSL router, stable and easy to setup.
Cant comment on a geographically dispersed server farm. But it would seem that a firewall at both locations could have kept the problem down...
You never, ever leave an unfiltered port open to the net. 1. rule for any admin.
But shooting admins that dont patch is okay with me.
Whoever puts a database outside a firewall? and then leave its external port open???
Sysadmins like that should be dragged into the street and shot.
You may have read her, because the works I would suggest are pretty old:
Intervention
Jack The Bodiless
Diamond Mask
Magnificat
There are also books prefacing these, they are part of the "Pliocene exile" series. Dont like them as much as those mentioned above

Is it possible, and has anyone tried it?
The article states that QT is a programming language, when in fact it is a class-library...
Well, C# bindings for KDE would be great.
The language is pretty nice.
Lets face it, towers and desktop cases won't cut it when it comes to moving computers from the workroom into other parts of the house.
And it even runs Linux, yum yum espresso...
Naish
But here is another mirror sdmi-attack.zip
Have fun
I just read Dr. Touretzky's testimony during the trial. He has some really good arguments about free speech and code.
But what was the end result of the trial?
Where can I get transcripts of the rest of the case?
