come to think of it... I have had trouble compiling a kernel on my system, something always seems to go wrong, so I usually just use the RPM kernels... And after installing a newer Redhat kernel, I did notice a lot of speed decrease compared to the original Mandrake install. Does Redhat even provide a kernel for 6x86? I have tried both RH6 and Mandrake 6 and I see Mandrake as a bug fix for RedHat. They make the RedHat distro work better, and if you ever check out their site they are working on some nice software. All this and extra software that doesnt come with a basic Redhat distro.... well whats wrong with that!?

I can see a market of people who would buy a dual celeron system instead of opting for one of the expensive high-end chips of any manufacturer. I myself, if I had a few dollars to spend would either buy a dual celeron, or not buy anything. It doesn't make much sense to disable something that allows users to add a second Intel chip. People would buy 2 instead of one, so how much money would intel really loose? If instead the person would go and buy a single faster chip, what makes them not go and buy an AMD?

Seeing as I cant afford a portable MP3 solution and tend to listen to independant or obscure artists, not to mention that I dont have the best computer/internet connection, I still would rather buy a CD than use mp3's. I like being able to stick my CD in any CD player and it working, getting artwork and lyric sheets. Anyway, if I can mail order most CD's that I want for 12 dollars or less, i can't see paying for some mp3, or even spending the time downloading it. If you really like the artist you would support them by buying their album and not pirating it, especially if you dont listen to top 40 crapola.

Even though AOL has done away with development of tik, we still have the code. I noticed the page was gone a couple months ago, and it never came back. I urge people, mostly those with ample space and a domain to host some sort of Tik development project to continue it without AOL. The software is really a good little program, with some nifty features. So... if anyone is up for this... maybe drop a note on freshmeat if you have something set up... something like that...

If the same music was released and didnt have anything to do with star wars... i dont think you kids would be clammering to get a copy... i mean, its symphony music for gods sakes... not exactly something that you cant find elsewhere. get a grip already and just wait for the movie to come out. Part of the fun in listening to the sound track is that you know the story and can play it out in your head, but the music alone for a movie that isnt out yet... thats just odd kids...

I also like having a CD or record of an album because I know that I can put it in any CD player and it will work, not to mention all that great artwork on the sleve, lyric listings, information about who produced it and played what. I also dont have the space on my friggin hard drive to keep the dang MP3 files, and its a pain in the ass to find the kind of music i like in MP3 anyway since most of what i enjoy is obscure or on independant labels. Thats just my 2 cents, keep the change.
