Harvard University has over 1 Billion dollars (IIRC) that has been donated by alumni in it s accounts that have been ear marked for scholarships? Do you know where this money has gone?
Lets face it, most of the world still uses Windows, and if freenet is ever to gain mass acceptance, it will have to run on Windows. Currently it does not, as I have tried on several machines.

Do you really think that you will get this tax deduction and not the company running the distrobution servers? Any make-money schemes I have seen on the internet that have allowed you to donate your whatever to charity have taken the deduction for themselves

It only stands to reason that as the market for PC's continues to explode, the number of operating system licences will expand as well.
