    Of course people will read it. Those who didn't see the story when it was first posted :)

    You have a very vaild point. I do not any of MS's products. You can take a wild guess why :) But, for those few that do. They should not have to purchase the same damn program 8 times.

    A few years back, when all computer makers where forcing people to buy Windows with a computer. I was working for a company that bought 40 new machines. Since we where running a Novell server and NT clients. We wasted our money buying it. Even if the they where selling NT with there machines, its worthless. You already own it.

    So, in the end. They owned 80 copys of Windows for 40 machines. The extra CDs (all 79 of em) sat around collecting dust.

    In my VERY bad experience with Oracle, I would say fsck em. Not only did it take over 2 days trying to get the damn thing to work correctly. It messed up my system pretty bad.
    When they have entire sites showing you how to install a single app, and its 30 pages for each install. Something is truley wrong.
    Sure, they give you support ... for a mer $30,000 a year ...
    Stick with MySQL or better yet, PostgreSQL.

    While I was at White Castle a few weeks ago, there screen that is used to confirm your order had the letters QNX in the upper right hand side of the screen. It was in the same font and all. All of there cash registers also said the same.

    The question is, and I out of my mind or is this possiable ?

    This reminds me of some bad 80s movie where the devil is tring to get into the "holy mans camp". After the "holy man" where starving, the devil promissied them unlimited food if they would join him. A few did, and what a suprise ... he killed them after there first meal. I wish I could remeber the name of it ....

    Corel, what the hell did you expect ?? You come into the Linux community expecting open arms, it took a while until you started to get some respect, then you turn your self over to the enemy. Let me take a wild guess, the next version of Corel Linux is already in the works ?

    When you don't have to spend 4 hours working on some js or css to get them working on all browsers. When companys like MS don't change the standards to make things only work in there browsers.
    Until then ... fsck off! :) If I go to a companys site that says I can not view there site in an old browser. I won't deal with that company. Screaw them.
    If its something else, they better have something really amazing for me to have to switch to another computer just to view the site.
    I am all for webstands and what not, but I don't like the classic BS MS and NS pull.
    I will not upgrade to NS 6 for QUITE a while. Why ? Hmmmmm, geee, lets see ... it sucks, breaks webpages most websites, uses unbelivable amounts of system resources, etc etc etc.
    I have a friend who used to work for a fortune 100 company who forced ALL users to disable js. Why ? Security reasons.

    phpGroupWare does use parts of phplib for its database classes and template class. We have our own session management. You can have cookies or no cookies. You can save session data using appsessions()

    I have my FreeBSD 4.1.1 box running MySQL and Squid proxy. The only thing that stands in my way of using it as a work station is PAM LDAP. I know its supported, I have found a number of sites tht claim it works. But, no one knows how!

    I downloaded the source, and it dies on the Makefiles ... I found binarys that don't work.

    I have been running Linux for quite some time now and would like to expand my knowledge a little with using it.

    FreeBSD is a smaller distro, that I can install on my laptop without a problem. Its only got a 800mb HD. Installing something like rh 6.2, is a serious pain. Its got way to much crap that it installs.

    Durring the initial /. announcement, I thought it was a stupied idea. Now, after seeing things being ported to it even quicker. I am wondering if I should do it ... even for shits and giggles.

    Does anyone know some system specs for it ? CPU mhz, RAM, etc ? Also, how the hell do you get this on there ?! I assume you would need to add a hard drive somewhere in there.

    I figured I could pick up a few from FunCo land (Are they still around ? :) or some place like that for less then $99.

    God, I want it!! I remeber walking down the boardwalk in Seaside, NJ and Pt Pleasent, NJ and dumping all of my money into try to win the full set of them ... That and voltron ...

    I used to live next door to a kid whos parents bought in every single one of these things. There wasn't anything he didn't have. The worst part about it, hes still has them to this day. (Or at least, I think he does :)

    I reported this bug a while back and its STILL not fixed. They won't even acknowledge it has a bug. MySQL DOES NOT work using PAM LDAP.

    So, I am suck running MySQL as root becuase that get it taken care or ... ARGGGGGGGG!

    This is a valid point. Someday, its going to be duplicate work. They are completly different types of databases. Plus, compition is good.

    If I was on something like this for a long time and sudden found out that it was a complete waste, becuase of looking in the wrong place, I would be very pissed. But, as the article says, might be looking in the wrong place. We'll just have to wait and see.

    No, I have ran into this problem with it. They both have there pros and cons. But, over all, I personally think PostgreSQL is the better choice. Yet, this depends on what you are doing.

    Sure, it might be a _little_ bit quicker then PostgreSQL. But, I still belive PostgreSQL is the better choice. But, its good to hear its now a stable version. Maybe they can start adding things like sub selects and what not.

Companys going down left and right, has the computer industry reached its highest point ? What goes up, must come down ...
