This might be true in general, but here in the US, our knowledge of geography pretty much sucks...

Having used Opera heavily for the past few months, I have to say that I now definitely prefer it. Especially now that Opera 4.0 has a (optional) "taskbar". Plus this taskbar displays which pages have finished loading-- try that, IE!

Also, doesn't an MDI take up less memory or something? Which means more sites open at one time! Yay!

Just give it a try-- it's fast, (fairly) stable, and the most standards-compliant released browser out there. (Well, I've heard good things about iCab, but I don't really know it)

Here here! I used to use IE 5 for my 98 machine, but now I swear by Opera. For those of you with smaller-footprint machines (mine is 233Mhx, 48 MB RAM), Opera runs circles around IE rendering times, especially if you have more than 3 sites open.

Additionally Opera's tech support is wonderful. Email questions are answered in a day or two! And that when I've explained that I'm still evaluating the product without paying yet! Has anyone ever received any email from Micrsoft that wasn't a subscribed automated response (or a cease-and-decist letter).

Most of us that have been around a long time (me, I started in Applesoft Basic and then to assembly, then Pascal, then C) didn't care about how clean or consistent a language was. We were curious about how the damn things worked, how programs were written, and how we could do the same. Just get them started on something, and just like us, they'll probably figure out what they like when they get older.

Same goes for anything kids do - expose them to everything and let them decide as they grow.

Absolutely. I used NSI to register a domain three years ago, and they still don't have a way for me to transfer ownership of the domain without using snail mail. Ugh. I've used Register.com for my last three domains. The best part about Register is ease of registering other domains after you've already registered one.

That's because no one wants to test the GPL in court. It's either

    (a) Too expensive
    (b) Afraid we'll lose

There were previous posts stating the opinion that the test of GPL in court should wait for a large corporation, with lots of money, who violated the license knowingly. Why should the license only be enforced* (bad choice of words?) under these conditions? Why can't the license be enforced for these so-called minor violations?

I, personally, think the GPL would not win in a court case. Jurors are people, and most people don't care or don't understand the concept of free software. They understand creating an idea and selling it for money. It wouldn't matter if a good lawyer argued the case for the enforcement of the GPL. Most people are clueless about this sort of thing...

Why should this be any different?
