How is www.chosenwebsitename.com commonly held? If I choose to purchase and continue to lease this domain, why shouldn't I profit off of it?
There is a significant difference between "purchasing a domain and making a profit by having it" and "purchasing a domain in order to make a profit by selling it".
The only thing stopping any country from doing anything is the inevitable retaliation.
You're forgetting that sanity has to apply to that equation as well. Tinpot dictatorships don't have any of that and are more then willing to sacrifice their people as long as the glorious leadership and it's selected people survive.
But sanity in this case is the governments ability to make a reasonable guess at the results of any particular geopolitical action (e.g., I lob a missile over Japan, and Japan is going to be pissed; so, do I care?).
I'm sure it is a communications 'satellite'. Its job is probably to communicate rocket telemetry back to the North Korea rocket scientists, after all.
I was stationed in the ROK back in the mid '90s when North Koreans lobbed a missile over either Japan or Taiwan (can't remember which now), and a lot of people were worried it was actually the start of something. If they are lobbing the equivalent of ICBMs around now, regardless of the payload of that specific rocket, then I think it is only being intelligent and prepared to be wary of what North Korea is really working on.
Actually, using raytracing to draw the 3d game world has been done, and is apparently not that taxing on the CPU/GPU. Unfortunatley, I don't remember the name of the engine, but it does real time ray tracing and they ported over some Quake 3 maps to test it. I remember reading about it a couple years ago. I haven't seen anything on it since then, unfortunately.
While I agree with your statement, I have to point out that you obviously don't have a cat. Every cat owner will agree that people don't "own" cats. The cat chose to live there.
Whats the old joke? "10,000 years ago cats were worshiped as gods. Cats have not forgotten this..."
A friend was checking for job opportunities once that had a really interesting experience requirement. Six months after a particular version of Oracle came out this company wanted to hire people with 2+ years of experience with that specific version of Oracle.
My friend called for more info just to see what they'd say when he mentioned that. I believe at the end they said he had too much experience for the position.;)
Yeah, but actors with no lines don't get paid nearly as much as ones that get to say stuff. Would you want the part of Gordon, when everyone around you gets lines, but you have to just stare at people (with the option to take a crowbar to them, admittedly)?
We've figured out lots of things we could do. We just can't (economically) do any of it yet, with the possible exception of tossing nukes at the problem. Of course, nukes (or other explosives) have the potential to make a "bullet" hit into one spot on the planet into a "pellet cloud" that hits lots of places at once...
And yet the game population has been consistently growing since it started...
I think it is accessible to noobs, since even a month old character has a chance against another pilot in a frigate, regardless of game age. Sure, they wouldn't do much in a bigger ship, and their options will be limited at only a month old, but they can still do well if they specialize at something. The new character generation methods made that even easier (I'm still miffed I didn't get a free 800K skill points just because I'd already learned 10M by the time they made the change).
I agree about the scalable fonts, however. They really should fix that.
Yes, the fact that your actions can and do have consequences in EVE is one of the best things about it for me. Especially that the forums are considered "in game".
It is probably the only game I've played where I didn't have to try to be "in character" because it is actually set up where you ARE your character, whether you meant to be or not.
You do realize what website this is, don't you?
So, if nobody looks it will never go nova? Hmm ... now we just need to find a way to make sure nobody ever observes it so we can "save the earth" ... ;)
... correct.

I think I get 20 fps with my Mini 9 wigh GMA 945 and 1GB of mem. Of course, I had to reduce

Duke Nukem (you're gonna have to wait) Forever?

Personally, I think my cat could make a better movie while working on a shoestring budget than Uwe Boll ever did.

Don't you mean WindowMaker? ;)
If I'm going to sleep on it, I think I'd prefer soft data ...
I definitely agree we need more data in order to make any kind of even remotely accurate prediction of probability, however.

Even if they miss us, we still have to listen to them as they go past.

No, the rule is "Don't fly it if you can't afford to lose it."
Also, "If it was a fair fight, you did something wrong."
Unless you were the neighbor ...
