They don't have to.
There'll be a nice licensing scheme for the key.
Which will first be incompatible with Open Software (licences) and second cost so it can't be included in freely distributed software.
Microsoft, Adobe etc. will just hold up their hands, it's not *their* fault this 'free' software will not run...
Damn good analysis, (after checking the spelling) I'd call it eloquently worded.
But when, as stated here that the US software patent system comes forth out of Case Law then Case Law should be able to overturn it.
To me this seems an excelent opportunity for SUN to have their lawyers do/initiate such a thing.
Where a photography company is left with only the negative side of business.
Thanks for the explanation but I am aware of this system, it's part of my job of data aquisition for oil exploration and I have been involved with geothermal energy aswell.
My comment is on the apparent mixing of this geothermal energy with solar energy.
The 14 degrees you are talking about is geothermal and not solar energy.
Allthough the first 5-50 feet can be a transient zone I dare say it does not get there from the sun but from the earths hot core.
And that is an important distinction.
There is such a thing as a geothermal gradient, it differs from place to place but is nearly always positive, meaning the deeper you go the hotter it will get.
You are incorrectly mixing geothermal and solar energy.
Ofcourse it *is* possible to in summer store excess heat from a solar collector in the earth and then extract it again in winter but that's still rather unusual.
In The Netherlands there is an experiment to store the solar energy received by a tarmac road,
see this M$ doc in Dutch for more:

because the larger ones spin slower, even at the tips of the blades.
Go back to school!
Or start with reading some of the comments where the velocity of the blades is calculated.
Aerodynamic laws will give you the highest efficiency of energy extraction at a particular speed/velocity and this has *nothing* to do with the diameter (size) of the rotor.
Only the rpm's go down with size, not velocity.
Windmills are carefully designed to extract kinetic energy from the wind, in this case 18 GigaJoules each hour.
Indeed, and to be given off again not too far away.
The reason Europe is so warm is because of these nice heat-carrying currents.
True, don't forget that Rome (Italy) is at the same latitude as the southern-most tip of Ontario (Canada).
Yet these winds are not originating in Europe.
Prevailing winds at ground level typically are in the same direction to some 4 km. of altitude, at least! So how are a relatively few very transparent 175 m. tall structures going to change that?
Anyway, windpower is only distributing existing energy, generated fossile energy is being added, what has more risks??
With a diameter of 125 m. the circumference is about 425 m.
With a maximum rotational speed of 12.1 rev/min that makes over 5100 m per minute at the tips of the rotor or over 300 km/h!
And that IS rather choppy. (
I wonder what would happen to a wind turbine in a hurricane?
This beast is build in Brunsbüttel, northern Germany.
Hurricanes don't realy happen on the the North Sea coast the way you see them in more tropical climates.
But once the wind gets over a certain velocity the blades are feathered and power generation stops.
The structure has plenty of strength to withstand the remaining wind pressure, after all during normal operation it has to withstand well in excess of the 5MW that is being generated.
As everyone knows 86400 is the number of seconds in a day.
Positive thought: Maybe Firefox reads time in miliseconds and that way checks once a day?
Negative thought: Or once every thousand days...
Seeing as though Sun are saying they will donate any proceeds to charity makes me wonder if this is in fact a deliberate attempt to attack existing patent database and in particular the US PTO's ability to grant patents.
My thought too.
I've no 'prior art' knowledge of SUN being an amusing company but this might be a shot at it.
Neither do you get it.
Maybe Bush defended his own or his friends or his families interest but not the interest of the USofA as a nation.
Quite the contrary, he got the US in a trouble spot bigger than the one he claimed to be fighting.
Would Bush have been less gung-ho he would have found virtually the whole world hated Saddam and would have supported the overthrow of that guy.
The remarks Bush has about the other members of "his" international coalition in Irak go down pretty badly in those countries.
Maybe except the Brits those countries did not come to help the US but to help the Iraqi people and they say so.
I'm a bit late with this reply but still you're asking for it:
Bullshit. Bush attacked Kerry on his multilateralism, not because of his criticism of Bush's policies. Bush made it clear that he didn't need international authority to defend US interests
Bush his problems lie in the four bold words and Kerry made it clear.
Reason being that the Dutch Liberals claim to be pro-free trade and anti-dogma, be it religious or social(ist).
For them it was largely true a century ago:-)
And hey! another place where Christians and Socialists find themself in the same corner..
The following is not so much I reply but more an addition:
According to some scholars Jezus himself was a Communist.
This in the sense of being pro-commune, the Israeli Kibbutz is an expression of such.
Stalinists, although communist, are often refered to as Conservative.
So let's be careful with Left, Right, Liberal, Conservative unless you include a point of reference!

when our main software license imposes so many unreasonable restrictions
Unreasonable?? Isn't it every creator's own choice what license he wants his work to be distributed under?
To me it is entirely reasonable.
After all he gives it away without asking for any monetary reward, so asking (GPL=expecting/demanding) the reciprocal should not upset anyone that uses this work.
I've got PCTV USB2 Vision Build 1.00.057 and have not had it crash yet.
When doing a lot of I/O I do get a noticeable lag between sound and picture, stopping and restarting fixes it.
A lame article.
This is soo obvious.
Yet Wikipedia is an excelent *part* of a search.
The idea to put some sort of "Unverified" label on an article is just as unreliable.
An indicator by -how many individuals- it has been read / reviewed is probably the best you'll ever get.
And even then it's possible it'll only be a popularity contest.
"TV on the go"? Whart sort of a hotel does not offer a TV-set?

And that's why a sensitive receiver that maybe even works with a simple piece of wire is important, it was not checked at all in this article.

Instead of outright deleting moving to a separate Troll directory could be a solution.

Personally I find the experience during long sessions on such a soft screen much less tiring than on the sometimes very harsh older systems.
Just because you can you don't have to (disable it).
A computer is sometimes used for productivity and then anything that helps keeping the user focused/ not irritated is a bonus.
