    Comes with a remote
    Sensitive antenna input
Important for the traveller it will do PAL, NTSC, SECAM.
    Good software

But so far no luck on Linux...

I would be very upset if money that was partially made through my efforts would go to these people.
Commercial entities have no business spending their money on influencing what should be a democratic process.

The people (voters) should be the only allowed to finance parties, maybe with some very tightly controlled subsidies from the government to give start-ups a chance.

On a side line, what is democratic about some people being able to spend thousants or even millions of $$ on a party while others could hardly afford a 10 bucks contribution every four years?
Limiting donations to $10.- per year would as well end the ridiculous circus elections have become and force politicians to stay on topic.

OK, there are some loony lefties that claim there are international treaties like the Geneva Convention that govern war.
But the last time the US has signed uop to them was probably during the Nürnberg trials of the Nazi leadership.
If you want to see the Guantanamo prison in a favorable light you could even claim it is based on those treaties as these only protect official soldiers and civilians, not terrorists.

But you are in the US military and you have to obey your officers period.

Speed recording is not the main deterant such a box has.
Most modern cars already have a box recording the last few seconds of your speed and other information, when in an accident the recording is preserved. there have been cases where this info was used in court.
The now proposed box will record this info for a lot longer, like months.

I know of companies that use such boxes in company cars and these things are very anoying due to their sensitivity. You have to hand them in every month for review
When you did brake, turn or accellerate faster than the thing (your boss) likes you will get called in.

And your 45 degree pun is considered distasteful both in Germany and The Netherlands.

More on topic of the OP: in The Netherlands you are free to receive anything you can/want but you are not supposed to share information that is not meant for the public (like police radio).

The annual charges for the privilege to watch TV and listen to radio have been abolished several years ago and the funds to finance the public broadcasters are now taken from general taxation.
