Many Britons use "thousand million" instead of "billion".
Sometime in the past someone in the States did not do his math right. Historically a 1000 million is called a milliard. This is still so in "the rest of the world" but about 20? years ago the UK decided to adopt the US "slang" of billion, yet educated Brits do see the potential for error and now prefer "1000 million".
The international way: million : 1000,000 milliard : 1000,000,000 billion : 1000,000,000,000 billiard : 1000,000,000,000,000 trillion : etc, trilliard : etc,etc.
To drive a car you have to get a licence, but to be resposible for someones life in a trial you only need to be selected........ I'm amazed human rights organisations have not stood up for the right of the defendant to be tried by proper licensed professionals.
"shall be designed to fit within the internal dimensions of 0.43m x 0.5m x 24.18m (16.95 in X 20.00 in X 9.52 in)." Will NASA never learn? They start with requirements in an obsolete system (Inches and Pounds) and then translate it into the proper (and required) SI for the official bid-form, then translate it back for ignorant suppliers...... They can't even do that right!, 24.18m = 9.52 in.. Bunch of amateurs, I'm glad I'm not flying with them or live under the flight path!
"With some of the strange laws passed in Europe affecting the UK recently, such as we *have* to etc"
<P> What a load of s**t, your brain must be living on a diet of reading too much in Murdoch's The Sun or another typical british "quality" news paper. <P> Please get out of Europe if you can't handle a level playing field. <P> This case is about Microsoft possibly making it harder/impossible for others to have their applications running stable on the W2K OS, a real issue with nearly every one using MS as a default OS!

and since 1 inch is approximately 2.54cm (25.4mm),
An Inch is <B>exactely</B> 2.54 cm,
That's how the US and British governement institutions have "standardised" this obsolete system.
For accuracy I prefer to use the system in wich something is designed.

Hmmm, why do my HTML tags not work?

Jees, would have thought they (M$) could afford more than just the 9th. floor...
