it has ``still photos (960 x 720) with back camera''

If it had the same camera capabilities as the iPhone, I'd agree --- but either those numbers are wrong, or it's seriously crippled as a camera.

    William

That is the video resolution, not the photo resolution. In fact it is exactly the same as the iPhone 4 in terms of picture size/quality.

No one should per default have access to any of your personal items or information, nor should anyone have any kind of back door that makes it easy to gain access to another persons items or information. It is as simple as that. Some part of me is sorry that the police (and more shady agencies) will not automatically get access to everything you are and own on the mere suspicion of a crime the other part of me acknowledges that they already have the possibility to use legal tools such as subpoenas, search warrants et.c. to get access to relevant items and information when you are a suspect of a crime.

You should really go to http://www.webapplist.com/ and indulge yourself in HTML/CSS/JS applications. Apps are not defined as programming languages only, in fact they are not defined by the language at all. If you were correct any application written in Python, Perl or Ruby would also not we an application.

Tacky that his first point is that Flash is proprietary, when Apple restricts the apps that can be installed on the phone. Pot, meet kettle.

In fact any user can install standalone apps that does not come from the Mothership (a.k.a. App Store). iPhone OS supports localstorage and offline mode for HTML5/JS applications that can have their own space on the home screen and works without any browser.

I do not follow your line of reason here. Graceful degradation of an online video player would be like this:

    1. Does it accept my standard way of delivering video? Yes: Play it that way. No: Test #2

    2. Does it play a degraded way of playing video? Yes: Play it that way. No: repeat #2 until all possibilities have been tried.

In this context a site like Hulu could just test if Flash is installed and deliver the stream though Flash if it is there and fall back to HTML5 if Flash is not present.
