In MA, I "got out of jury duty" by answering the question, "is a police officer more or less likely to tell the truth than a civilian?" My answer was "slightly more likely, perhaps 55%", and I was sent back to work. I actually wanted to be on this jury. Oh well, fuck the smart ones, right? (My thinking was that a police officer has been trained to recall information; and I know that eye-witnesses are notoriously incompetent; so, I figured, the ones that received the training would be slightly more likely to be able to recall better, right? And, thus, my logic was removed from the courtroom. Fuck Salem.)
There is a consensus that smoking pot while driving should be as legal as smoking a cigarette while driving. However, it's not the government's job to prevent some unknown harm through force, but wait until it happens and then respond.
I've got one eye. I don't swerve when drunk (I see blurry, not double). Why should I be lumped in with those who drive impaired while drunk? Pragmatically, it doesn't matter: I don't swerve, so they're not inclined to pull me over. Therefore, I get home safe. (Corollary: you wanna get home safe? Practice driving with one eye, then when drunk, DO SO.)
Not so easy to do when the prosecutor asks "stand on one foot, and both, at the same time." (This is what cops do, so they can assault people for "not following orders.")
1. Open two applications. Alt+Tab between them to ensure they're at position "1" and "2" of the z-order.
2. On one app, hit Alt+Esc to send it to the back of the z-order.
3. The other app should now be in the foreground. Hit Alt+F4 (or click the close button, or File, Exit, etc).
4. The app that you had sent to the back of the z-order, now appears in the foreground. WTF?
Trust me, you don't want to use "the other 90%" of your brain for consciousness. The full quote is likely to have been something like, "we only use 10% of our brain for consciousness, the rest runs background processes". You do not want to have to consciously keep track of keeping your blood pumping, regulating just the right amount of hormones in each area of the body, heat movement, cellular growth, gamete development, etc. Specialization, even within the body and brain, is important.
See, the way I see it, is the way it's written in the Christian's bible: "The devil may also quote scripture." So these evangelical fucks are just grandstanding. Give them no attention.
I think it's more the agnostics that claim they don't know what's going on. The OP was right that atheism is a religion: it is claiming an absence of God, with no proof.
I don't like the idea of prisons on other planets (moon included). Seems to me we keep passing laws making new classes of criminals. How about we reduce the criminal population legally?

Someone's sig is apt: "vote gridlock", no filibusters are then needed.

I like a little chicken, rice, AND egg.
WHAT IS IT?
Slashdot's current sig is apropos: "Life is a series of rude awakenings. -- R.V. Winkle"
If I ever choose to sleep with anyone again, it will be recorded.
Yet again, a wonderful Slashdot "read the rest of this comment" clicked for zero additional bytes.

Yes, like on a staircase, a riser above.
Currently reading "Three Felonies a Day". You're spot on.
So don't shave, then rape?
This fucking UI bug still exists:

Thanks, Microsoft!
I see what you did there. :)

"The K-12 dude. You make a gnarly run like that and girls will get sterile just looking at you."
There's a lot to learn from it -- especially, "when an enemy is making a mistake, do not interfere." I love that one. :)

Not just you.

Yeah, just once? Doubt it.

Very interesting: our spies are simply political scientists.
Sounds like SkyVenture, which blows air at 120 mph so we can float (it's a skydiving simulator).
Singularity coming soon. Lifetimes, not limited to 80 years.
