Despite HPs attempts to kill the alpha platform, I would guess some of the unknown OS section would go to VMS still. We still get lots of request for Alpha systems and VMS.
That's complete bull. All 3 OS categories contain both the hardware and software costs and not just the misc OS one. It's based on total cost spent on servers not server software sales.
You may want to upgrade your kernel. For Dual core opterons to run somewhat stable in Linux you need a 2.6.12-rcx kernel or one that has the dual core patches backported to an earlier kernel. Your stock 9.2 kernel probably doesn't have the required patches.
AMD doesn't care because Intel's dual core processors are not really shipping. The have been officially been released but are not readily available. As such until they start showing up in quantity AMD is going to keep the price of their available dual core processors at a premium. Simple economics.
Watch as soon as someone other than review sites starts getting dual core intels AMD will probably lower their price.
The Opteron 939 and 940 sockets and pinouts where designed for dual core to begin with so the upgrade is fairly smooth. The pinout change doesn't come until the Quad core processors are released sometime next year.
That's because they changed the code not just because the distributed it. If I sell a pc with Fedora Core installed, I do not have to provide source as it is already freely available. However if I ship it with a kernel patch I wrote for my special adaptor card. I would need to release this patch.
Note that if I wrote a separate device driver like Nvidia, I don't release that as long as I use my own code to write it.
Dual Core Dual Opterons can be had for the same or slightly less per cpu core. A fair bit less if you consider you can cut the number of interconnects needed in half. The interconnect gets expensive once you pass 48 nodes on a cluster.
The fact of existance does not make a product practical. This type of packet scanning would obviously increase the network latency significantly and only catch a portion of the spam.
Copy Protection is live and well. Whether it's just a unique serial number required for each version of windows or that game that won't play without a CD. Sure often these methods have been bypassed but that doesn't mean they don't still exist.
For instance every account of SWG needs a separate cd key that can't be reused by someone else. This is actually a fairly effective version of copyprotection.
Get real. An RFID tag in no way is going to stop the ripping of this kind of stuff. All you need to bypass it is a DVD player that doesn't read the RFID tag.
Hmm tell that to the KDE project. Safari is based on OSS software sure but they are not doing a good job of contributing changes back to khtml and as such are probably violating the GPL.
Small nit to pick. China doesnt have over 2 billion. From CIA worldfact book its 1,306,313,812.
And how did they get this number? Did the CIA do a door to door Census in China?
The fact is that no one has a accurate figure for the number of people in China. They tend to guess at the rural population as often families with multiple Children will hide them as it is illegal to have more than one.
1) Yeah no flash 2) There are so 64Bit ATI Drivers. I am running them on this machine right now. Get your facts straight buddy. 3) Yeah it sucks that no 64Bit Browser Plugins exist yet. I don't know why though as 64Bit versions of Java 1.5 exist for both Windows and Linux.
This would be completely counter productive. The person may work on something and possibly finish it but because the pot is growing sit on it for a while.
One of the advantages of Open Source is the quick development. This idea would take that away.
Yeah I don't think RedHat 2.1 supported SELinux. You could patch it to support it but not out of the box.
In April 2003, this study compared a version of RedHat Enterprise Linux soon to be replaced with a brand new release from Microsoft. And still they had to tweak windows.

Actually that isn't true. Some of the processor manufacturing is done by IBM as well.

The X2 is definitely Pin Compatible with current 939 Opterons.

Okay then tell me how much latency does this system create?
Hmm well how about recording the output from a DVD player with a computer after it's decrypted?

HD output just needs an HD capture card. These cards are readily available.

If that was practical it would have been done already. Do you really think the ISP's enjoy thousands of emails wasting their bandwidth?
Some spam can be easily filtered out and some can't. As soon as you figure out how to filter one type the spammers come out with another.
The only way to stop spam completely is to remove the financial reward for spamming and I don't see that happening.
Hmm tell that to the KDE project. Safari is based on OSS software sure but they are not doing a good job of contributing changes back to khtml and as such are probably violating the GPL.
Germany of course. You know those tractors with treads, armor plating and turrets mounted on top.

Man those things are messy. The bread crumbles, the tiny shreads of lettace go everywhere. I always try to eat it over the wax paper they wrap it in.

God didn't create Microsoft Office to Futs in us unused
Hmm I wonder if Word's gramar checker would help you not misquote Hamlet.
Calgary is also one of the most expensive places to live in Canada (Toronto being another!).
Ah no. Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, Hamilton are all as bad or worse.
