I having dealt with Games Workshop in both personal and profession capacities over the years, I have always been struck by their stupidly greedy tactics. From the over priced kits, to requiring me order $40,000 of everything in their product line in order to sell any of their products in my store. This lawsuit is very typical of them.
Ubisoft is only succeeding in shooting itself in the foot with its ludicrous copy protection scheme. Draconian DRM schemes only succeed at pushing away honest customers and losing sales for the company. Those that are willing to pirate a game will continue to do so, and if they somehow they couldn’t most still would not buy the game.
Copy protection only satisfies the paranoid mind, and fills the pockets of those companies that are all too willing to create the software tools to take advantage of the situation. In reality copy protection doesn’t work, it didn’t 20 years ago and it still doesn’t today.
