  1. corruption on Tutoring A Child Prodigy? · · Score: 3

The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently. -- Nietzsche Seriously though, I think it's wrong to take children and make them be adults too soon. Let him be a child first. He's got enough time later on to be an adult, and he can learn how to be a programmer then.

  2. Re:case study: my brother on Video Games and ADD · · Score: 1

I think the problem with video games is not that they contribute to ADD or anything like that but simply that. However, they are inherently an escape mechanism. As a college student, I've seen the same thing over and over again with my friends. Stuff gets too much for them to deal with, so they lock themselves into a big game. I have a friend who did the same thing with Ultima Online. He plays computers 24 hours a day and his grades sure suffered. I guess the games make you feel like you're in control of your life when really you aren't and the more and more you play, the less control you have over your life.

Well, you could mount the mboard in the tank. and have the flusher handle turn on the power switch. not sure abou where to put the rest though. Toilets innnately hold water pretty well so you could run water through pipes through the toilet. Perhaps put a flat lcd monitor over the bowl or something. that wya you could lift the lid to find a monitor there.

Indeed, in my mind, there cannot be higher felicity on earth enjoyed by man than the participation of genuine reciprocal amorous affection with an amiable woman. There he has a full indulgence of all the delicate feelings and pleasures both of body and mind, while at the same time in this enchanting union he exults with a consciousness that he is the superior person.

What muddled garbage! What is Boswell trying to do, get the maximum number of syllables in a paragraph. Convoluted messiness is the result.

people don't write for money, or at least the good writers don't. They write because they NEED to. They write because they have something to say. Of course they have to get by in life but nobody goes into writing to make money. They go into it because they are artists. Do painters paint to get rich? No. Well neither do writers and i think that in the face of a weathly writer like King, it's easily forgotten but he did not start writeing to make money.

he started because he had a story to tell.

I guess I just don't get it. Why does he want to publish on the web? It's really not for the reader's good because if it doesn't work, then you've just let down a bunch of people who got hooked on the novel by reading the first few chapters. If I were one of those people and he didn't finish, I would feel very abandonned as a reader. Also, books are not exactly expensive and if you can't afford a book or simply do not want to buy one, you can always go to a library. Now, what i think would be cool would be to have an on-line type of library where you can check the book out onto your computer for a certain amount of time and then it maybe self deletes or something when the time limit is over if you haven't renewed it. I think when people think Internet, they should be thinking, really big library and stop thinking so much about profits.

I think that laws aside, you need to have moral integrity and you should no go against that. If you are a writer or journalist and are asked to reveal a confidential source, I think you should keep your mouth shut and if you have to go to jail, so be it. Thoreau went to jail because he refused to pay his taxes to support a war he did nto agree with. It's all about moral integrity. If you don't have it, go ahead save your ass, but if you do, accept the results of an unjust society.

Those poor penguins. I have a soft spot for the birds, but I have to say that it is not just birds that are hurt by oil spills. It's all sorts of wild life. I really think that we need to reconsider our usage of oil. Is killing wildlife worth it? I don't think so. Instead we need to go for some alternitive power sources.
