Layered LCDs (aka SOLED) really have 2 advantages. One is that they (that is, TOLEDs) can be made (around 70% opacity) transparent by using a transparent conductor (called ITO .. read Universal Display's patents one day if you can manage to get through it) for the electrodes, and two is that they can produce the full RGB spectrum (by stacking transparent layers) in 1/3rd of the physical space.

So while this is cool and all, it's not really going to help with a 3D gui, as these OLEDs are still made in 2D sheets.. they just use a transparent conductor. What they WILL allow for is stuff like super high resolution Heads-Up-Displays on car windshields.. which is still damn cool by me.

Yes! I'm a FIRM believer in the the Whole Sort Of General Mish Mash (WSOGMM) theory:

The technical term for the sum total of all the parallel universes, which aren't parallel, and furthermore are not, strictly speaking, universes either. This is easiest if you don't try to realize that until a little later, after you've realized that everything you've realized up to that moment is not true. The reason they are not universes is that any given universe is not a thing as such, but rather just a way of looking at the WSOGMM. The reason they are not parallel is the same reason the sea is not parallel. You can slice the WSOGMM any way you like and you will generally come up with something that someone will call home. Please feel free to blither now.

I totally agree, and I think this critisism can be made of a number of the actors. Mos Def really dissapointed me, I'd always seen Ford as a bit more of a.. flamboyant character. On the other hand, Marvin was just wonderfully cynical enough.

You could really tell who in the theater had read the books by when they would laugh (at the parts that were funny as hell in the book) even when the film's delivery of the joke totally failed.

Combined with the fact that the DreamCast's release and the rise in popularity of CD-RWs coincided, this served to kill an otherwise excellent console (to my knowledge, the first to ship with a modem adapter right from the factory, ready for online play and light web browsing).
