"2) BIG TIME OPINION: I will NEVER see a movie with Courtney Love in it because her entire career has been based on the death of her husband... a man she by most of the facts released, killed or had killed. She disgusts me and she has no talent.. only tits. "
Courtney Love was involved in the music scene, playing in Babes in Toyland and Hole, before Nirvana ever got popular. And she has been acting since the mid/late 80's as well. She had roles in "Straight to Hell" and "Sid and Nancy" (both Alex Cox films I believe). Get your facts straight before shooting your mouth off, fuckwad. She's also a very talented actress. Don't be so opinionated on something you obviously know nothing about and check out some of the movies she's been in.
God damn it. All BeOS needs is jackasses like this Bex guy spreading FUD. Wake up people!!! BeOS is a _DESKTOP_ OS, not a server OS. Uptimes are completely irrelevant. Christ.
open sourced my ass. try recording and releasing your own version of John Lennon's "Imagine" without getting permission and see how fast the lawyers come knocking.
ahh! thank you. it's about time. i was getting worried that there wouldn't be any "iMac's suck" posts here. what the hell is slashdot doing posting this story anyway... what does it have to do with linux? (sarcasm).
what do you mean "if my HDD wasn't only 1.5 GB"... I just installed slackware (an older version, kernel 2.0.0) on a 386 with a 40MB hard drive, with 5 megs left over for user files. i got gcc, the c libs, tcp/ip, sendmail, and a Scheme interpreter into that little space.
damn kids today... just don't appreciate disk space...
screw the newbies. make them learn how to use Linux like we all did. If they really want to learn, they will on their own. I personally don't want to use an OS that products that cater to the lowest common denominator.
"It would help a lot of BeOS didn't try to get money for there OS"... How the hell are they supposed to stay in business if they give away THEIR (note the spelling) OS? Businesses need to generate revenue in order to continue to do business. This may not be apparent to some people out there. Heh, it would help a lot if those bastards at Ford didn't try to get money for their cars too... Wake up, kid. This is how the real world works.
Oh yeah, if you really want to check out BeOS, order one of their Demo CDs. They're cheap, and it's a sweeeet OS.
Be careful, man... saying anything positive about closed source development on/. liable to get you blacklisted.... even more so for saying negative things about open source development...
Just curious, but what apps do you need that aren't available for BeOS? The only thing keeping me from using BeOS exclusively on my machine is that my printer isn't supported (yet). I dig BeOS... just got Quake II running on it...sweeeet:)
I completely agree. I was wondering if anyone else was a little bit creeped out by the level of hero worship going on here. I have nothing against Linux, mind you, but sheesh... If I was Linus, I'd think i'd be sort of annoyed at getting ninety million happy birthday emails. Kind of reminds me of this bumper sticker I saw that said "Jesus, protect me from your followers"
I found OpenBSD to be easier to install than any Linux distribution I've ever used (and I've used quite a few). I just replaced my Linux partition with it a few weeks ago, and it's now my "main OS" (I also use BeOS). I encourage anyone to try it out... it's rock solid, easy to configure (or at least no harder than Linux:) ) and _extremely_ well put together.
an /etc/rc/ init structure is not sysv. and red hat is not a sysv unix, it's linux.
yes! scalded balls!
6 pairs please.
... and how often do you pour hot grits down your pants?

great. but it's still a bloated, crappy win95 wannabe. could be worse though. could be gnome.
come on. you'd think an OS as cool as Linux would have some desktop environments that weren't shameless win95 clones.
of course this is just my opinion, and i may be wrong. (to quote Dennis Miller)
guess what. id Software started in Madison Wisconsin. heheheh. we rule.
To quote Hank Hill...
"Why do you want to go to Dallas? There ain't nothing there but crackheads and debutantes. And that's just the football team!"

Yeah, I'm from Wisconsin too. Pbpbpbbbttt.

hopefully.... i love that argument :)
Heh heh. BeOS 1, Linux 0.
