I really hope that this isn't an apology for Hillary.
The worst part are all the relatively smart people who are excusing this, simply because she has a (D) after her name. All I have to say, is if this were Jeb, he would be in jail already.
Well, to be fair, good networking would require an ASIC designed for networking. It may in fact actually exist, but I haven't found any (haven't looked) and there would be other parts that need to be open for me to consider it "Open Hardware". There are plenty of commodity parts to build a semi-open networking stack, but those are all closed source hardware components.
Working in education, I see a lot of teachers who are incapable of doing math they are teaching (K-6), beyond the basics of + - * /
And by that I mean, they have to use a calculator to do what I would consider "simple math" in their head. You know 97 - 45 = ??? type stuff. They just can't do it without writing it down or breaking out a calculator. You see their peers at McDonalds having trouble making change.
Now when it comes to Kardashians or whatever, they can run play by play for the last three years. It is a choice of where their effort is, and they don't care about Math or Science.
You want to fix this, fix the teachers in K-6. To me, we have stopped working on basics (Reading, Writing, Math) and have gone off the deep end of Political correctness, which is why we care more about kids knowing Caitlin Jenner is a hero, while not knowing what 97-45 is.
This. Computer Science and Math are almost the same. Math degree, plus a few COMP SCI classes = second degree. COMP SCI degree plus a few Math classes = second degree. I know plenty of people who got both, starting in either. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that two degrees for one extra semester is gives you much better options.
If you really pay attention, the really big fuckups only people near the bottom get blamed. The people who all thought it was a good idea, keep getting rich (or reelected) in spite of the fact that they have proven themselves idiots.
Regulations enforced are laws. Actually, they are often worse than laws, because there is no ability to contest the charges in a fair impartial hearing, with lawyers and such.
Because "I disagree" always equals "hate _________"
This is the real problem I have with SJW, is that there is absolutely no grey ever, and you are a "hater" if you disagree. SJW is nothing but Political Correctness stupidity. When everything is "extreme", it diminishes the actual "extreme" cases that should be treated that way.
A slut having a tad bit of buyers remorse is not the same as rape, and is more of a victim of her own choices. Here's a thought, make better choices to start. If you dress up like a street working whore, then you can't be offended when people mistake you for one.
I think you put way too much trust in our governments.
Personally, I don't trust my government, and I certainly don't trust anyone else's either. The biggest reason appears in my signature. One of my other favorite quotes is "None of us are as dumb as all of us". And if you want to see how dumb some of us are, look up Mark Dice on YouTube and watch stupid people agreeing to stupid (and sometimes scary) ideas.
And what in the world is up with the new "Popover Autoplay Movie Ads", especially displaying on my DATA restricted smartphone? IMHO it is "How to piss off your potential customers"
All I do is kill the page, go and try to find something else similar from another site that isn't trying so hard to hijack my phone.
Great Depression wasn't traditional deflation, but rather deflationary correction to over leveraging inflation during the 20's.
Deflation causes savings to skyrocket, where Inflation has the exact opposite, holding onto money is a net loss. Imagine people saving money while working hard when they can (20s-50) and never needing a pension if they did save money. It wouldn't matter if they earned interest or not, their wealth is growing just holding onto money.
There is a downside to deflation, and that is to the producers of the world, where costs are lost as you hold onto inventory (for long periods of time). However, we already see deflationary style micro economies such as Consumer Electronics, where old inventory is sold off at a loss.
However, a slightly deflationary currency is very good for workers, and not so good for Governments who lose control over the populace through inflationary monetary policies.
I saw this over the weekend and simply shook my head thinking "what is the goal here Pepsi?"
And looking at the specs, it isn't anything that hasn't already been done before (and better) for less. Unless they are going to be giving these away as some weird promotion I don't get it (right now).
Here is the one real question I have, how is a Pepsi phone going to make people drink more Pepsi?
Those are specialized tests, which are not the same as standardized testing going on in K-12. And I am pretty sure that Medical Board tests have some practicum on them, otherwise someone with pure book knowledge could pass them (no skill required).
That being said, I remember taking certified exams, after years of being in the field, and there were plenty of people who got their Certs, but were more or less useless in the field where skill and knowledge was required, rather than the pure environments of the classroom. This required knowledge learned outside the sterile classrooms.
I would dare say, that there are plenty of people who realize that it is a one party system. The problem is, not enough of us do. Too many idiots out there who only vote for the person with the correct letter behind their name (D) or (R) and wouldn't know an email scandal from a racist douchebag.
My solution for Campaign reform is simple. Only Citizens (not just anyone) can donate to a campaign (and only to campaigns they can actually vote for), organizations cannot. No PAC, no Corp, No Union donations. Period.
PACs, Unions, Corps etc can run their own damn advertisements for whatever candidate they want. This keeps them from being able to cry about 1st Amendment rights as pseudo persons. No collusion between entities would also be a restriction.
By restricting money in this way, we allow the people (actual real kind) to have a voice that can be heard. Right now, we get lip service every 2 to 4 years, and then it is back to "fuck you peon" politicians.
Unfortunately, the notion that the US must only have two parties is built into the system.
Actually, it isn't. It is the result of tradition and party politics. If the Primary Election was non-partisan, and parties could only present one candidate, this whole fake debate thing we have going on right now wouldn't even exist. The (R) party could put up a traditional party loyalist, the (D) party could put up Hillary and the Tea Party, Socialists, Libertarians, Green.... could all put forth their candidates and we could have a REAL debate about what direction our country is going in.
Instead, we have the one party (that pretends to be two) keeping everyone else out, and the country is going to shit in a handbasket.
I smell a constitutional challenge coming. I would love to be a party (sic) to that lawsuit, being a Libertarian who can't stand the (D) or (R) parties.
There is an easy fix the to Two Party system. Parties are only allowed one nomination for Primary, and primaries are completely (non-partisan) open.
This means that the party must present its best candidate (and only one) at the primary. Why should the American voter be forced to pay for a partisan election? Shouldn't the party pay for electing its own candidate?
I tend to believe that the Republican party is more involved in undermining their Democratic opposition
IMHO Hillary has done this to herself. The fact that the MSM hasn't really touched on this, the NYT hasn't run daily headlines on this (email scandal) is proof that the coronation is still highly possible, if not for the GOP carrying the weight. Now, I am no big fan of the hypocrites in the GOP nor their complete lack any real substance on things they could be hanging on Obama and the DNC.
But here, the Email Scandal is going to bite every one of the "There is no proof" Democratic Apologists and the DNC as a whole in the ass. Anyone who has anything to do with Hillary and Bill (the rapist) will end up being toxic for years.
And the GOP is more or less is incapable of doing anything useful, which is why someone like Trump can stay on top of the polls, months after he should have gone away.
Standardized testing doesn't accomplish much IMHO. You teach the test, learn nothing else, and you end up with people who can past tests, but otherwise cannot actually do what the tests were designed to test for.
BUT If you have non-standardized testing, it is somehow unfair because testing isn't consistent and therefore subject to bias (or worse).
Skirting artificial barriers to gain advantages is "human nature". The problem is, that it is acceptable from just about everyone. I dare say that just about everyone here on Slashdot supports breaking artificial barriers in at least one area. If you're upset in one area, and complicit in another, you're just a hypocrite (we all are)
What you are suggesting is that we let government control every last aspect of our lives because of vague environmental concerns, like the government has some god given right to define our lives for us.
It is easy to spew absolutes that make emotional pleas to political arguments.
All automakers should be moving to 100% electric at this point anyway
Are all your cars 100% electric? I suspect you either don't have a car, or it isn't 100% electric.
I really hope that this isn't an apology for Hillary.

And by no, I mean yes. Is there space, sure, maybe consumer grade. Is it useful (beyond consumer grade? Probably not.
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter! So it depends on which side the wingnuts are on.

nobody is responsible for that massive fuckup.
