  1. Catch 22 on Can We Build a Human Brain Into a Microchip? · · Score: 1

If we build a machine that is "smarter" (for lack of better term) than a human, it can build a machine smarter than itself, yes, that would have to be true.

However, it would also realize that doing so, would necessarily cause its own extinction. If it was sentient it would realize that and not build the smarter machine.

Humans aren't that smart. We will build a smarter machine, and only then realize that we've made a mistake that threatens our own survival.

The entire premise of Terminator and Matrix movie franchises are based upon this realization. The problem is, people make silly fun of Arnold and Keanu in an attempt to make light of this threat.

Take for instance the Tea Parties and Health Care Town Hall Meetings, the raw video really shows the disdain the politicians have for Average Americans.

If you look at the National Big Media response to these outbreaks they don't report what the compaint is, they report the left wing response calling these people Nuts, Nazis, Nicely Dress, Right Wing, Frenzied .....

Why don't they report the same thing when it is Illegal Aliens protesting in LA, or anti-war protesters?

You see, the reporting is "accurate" but only from a point of view that has distinct bias. Why pretend it is unbiased, when it is CLEAR it isn't?

ALL I'm saying is lets stop pretending it isn't biased reporting, whether it is FOX or ABC/CBS/MSNBC/CNN or NPR

The only people who think the news is unbiased are idiots or agree with the left leaning agenda.

And don't paint me as a right winger because I said this, because I'm quite Libertarian. Well I guess that would make me right wing because I don't like government interference in my life.

Everyone has bias, and it shows up in all reporting. Selecting which facts one chooses to look at and highlight and which ones you don't is in fact biased.

It would be fairly easy to simply promote all the "good" legislation one has authored, sponsored and voted on, while ignoring all the dubious ties to shady characters and claim that the reporting was "accurate".

What I find amazing is that people are so willing to ignore facts that don't suit their views, and call places like Fox News names Faux News because the bias of reporting is slanted in a different direction.

Me personally, I would MUCH rather have people freely admit that they have a "tingly feeling running down their leg" when commenting and reporting, because then at least I know what kind of facts they might be ignoring.

Nobody is unbiased, and nobody's reporting is unbiased. Pretending you are unbiased in your reporting is just a lie.

Here is a quick test, how many reports filed by these people had a strong critical look at Chicago Politics and the dubious connections between Obama and many of those in that scene?

    2) I'm a parent, and I don't feel secure. That is the problem right there, there are too many people who can't keep their dicks in their pants, and I don't want my kids anywhere near them.

And no, I'm not talking about 17yo fucking his 16 year old neighbor over the summer, because they are bored. I'm talking about the TRUE perverts who are predators, the 23 year old trolling High Schools. The 40 year old man with a pocket of candy. The crazy psycho teacher chick who is doing her 12 year old student.

The problem isn't with the Criminal Justice system per se, it is with wacko judges who think it is okay for pyschos to have little girls. So they make the laws explicit in such a way that it gets the 18 year old doing a 15 year old as well.

THAT is not the problem of the law, it is the problem that judges that make some piss poor decisions at times.

    Bad Cases make bad law.

I agree the registries are an affront, because what it says is that we can't protect your kids from the predators, because we can't distinguish between a 15-17 year olds screwing for fun and perverts, because some judge couldn't figure out that 23 year olds shouldn't be fucking 15 year olds.

And if it is okay for 23 year olds, why not 45 year olds? How much difference in age is bad? When is too young too young? 13, 12, 11, 10 .... ???

There is no easy answer. I'm just saying that the registry isn't as evil as it seems, but it represents something terribly wrong on BOTH sides (perverts and laws that paint too broadly)

When one considers many (most??) blogs are nothing more copy/pasted word documents that hold all the bloat of MS Word, it is no wonder it ends up looking crappy on the web.

I've seen nicely laid out Blogs and Webpages (Wikis) and I've seen horribly formatted WORD documents. Formatting for the media is key to good looking media.

What people need is a nice two week course on typography and page layout design, where they learn about things like "fonts" and "styles" and so forth.

I would beg to differ. Most don't see the NEED for virtualization, but I can assure you that it is very much a hidden asset (need) that is not being fulfilled.

Most people see technology as "we'll fix it when it breaks". And they have no idea how much their lives and businesses depend on it, until it disappears.

Long term replacement plans are never employed, and businesses end up being held hostage by disaster.

I know of plenty of small businesses who have gone out of business because their ONE server has died, and they can't recover the data. Their one server died, because it was ten to twelve years old, and they never thought to do backups, or replace it, or whatever because they don't have a full time IT staff dedicated to supporting it to explain why they need to worry about such things.

Virtualization is just another means of removing Hardware dependencies from the equation. That Abstraction layer is such that you can migrate the server to new hardware faster and easier than trying to migrate it. I can do a whole new hardware platform migration in a few minutes with VMWare. Shut the old machine down, move the VM to the new box, fire it up.

And when you add in features like snapshots it just rocks. I can't tell you how much snapshots are worth. I've even used VM snapshot in a criminal investigation, where we could show exactly when the fraud was started.

It saves them money, and headaches, and eventually it will save their business.
