Though it's much more interesting that non-commercial OSes and web servers are so popular in Germany, where the only possible explanation of this success is the security, manageability and reliability of Linux, not the free code.
M$ has already bought Bungie (read the article on www.dailyradar.com), but I doubt that Halo will be the Killer App for the Xbox (which is more than 18 months away).
