  1. Honestly, you're not making a very compelling case for manual transmissions with this story.

Well, he could've gone and got it fixed, or leave it in gear and it won't go anywhere instead of looking like a pillock carrying around a couple bricks.

BTW is a parking brake the same thing we brits call a hand brake?

  2. Yeah, but that doesn't mean they won't try again.

  3. Apart from the price, you're describing the Priv exactly.

Sounds like I should've got one of those instead of this stupid shitty windows phone I got. Hopefully they're still around when my contract is up.

  4. Make a decent phone, decent price, slide out physical keyboard, long battery life and goddam headphone jack and there you go, Try to imitate the iphone and they will fail.

I'll make a bet right now that killing the headphone jack will be a step too far and Apple will be forced to bring it back pretty quickly.

Nah they'll just keep reminding you they do adapters (for a reasonable fee, of course) then once everyone's finally either bought one or gone to wireless headphones, that's when they'll bring it back.

And I'd bet they'd go for a lot more than $55.

    That's when it became perfect.

  12. Look shit head, the Air Force built a supercomputer cluster out of 1700 PS3s. The Cell is hot shit if you know what you're doing (which excludes you, of course).

The Air Force, if they weren't complete idiots, disabled updates. Any big cluster system does zero upgrades because they just break the codes that run on them. Unless the Air Force is operated by morons, this never affected them.

Until one or more machines blinks out. Then i'ts a 1699 cluster, or 1698 etc. Unless they can find and old one on craigslist that hasn't been updated they're shit out of luck when it comes to replacements

No, it will mean I won't need to buy an iPhone. Not that I would anyway, for a host of other reasons. I wish shoppers were a bit more discerning. There are some Apple computers at my workplace, and when I see the price tags on the purchased accessories, I can only laugh. I'm sure Apple is laughing too. There must be a staggering amount of suckers out there.

Ha, we have a mac in the office that has a wireless mouse on it, very sleek and pretty it is but £60 and to top it off the charging port is on the bottom. Oh, laughs for days that thing.

  18. That all may be true, and the price you pay for that is in blood. If you think it's worth it then that's on you. We gave up our guns in the UK after dunblain and managed not to have a societal breakdown. Australia managed it too. How many innocent people have to die before you start to question if it's really worth it?

  19. Pick any city in America and it's total gun death will probably be more than all of Europe. Where are you getting your figures from? It's good overall violence is on it's way down and if you think the price in blood is worth it then good for you. I'm just glad I live in a place that managed to give up their guns after we'd had enough of this shit without having a societal meltdown where everyone becomes blood crazed which is apparently what would happen in America.

  20. Here's a slow burn for what to do about the entrenched guns problem. Cut off the supply of ammunition. With out bullets a baseball bat is a better weapon. If there was an easy fix it would have been enacted long ago by people much smarter than me.

  21. How? He walks into a shop and buys them with no bother at all. Do you not see the problem with that? Maybe the answer is more guns. So the bar was supposed to a gun free zone but maybe some designated staff should be able to access a few guns hidden about so that if anything does go down at least two people should be able to try do something to stop it before it becomes a hostage stand off with the police.

  22. Take out all the shootings apart from the ones which make international headlines and America is still way above. Columbine. Virginia tech, sandy hook, that cinema, this last one, san bernadino, that church, the Washington sniper guy, Harris county, fort hood ... The list goes on and on and that's just of the top of my head. What has there been in Europe? Paris x 2, Ralph moats, that Sweden thing.... I'm struggling to think of examples. If you can rattle some off please do.

  23. Look you're missing my point. But do you really think the prohibition would have been as violent if it was guns that were banned instead of alcohol? Organised criminals are always going to have guns so it's not really an even comparison. Even if you do ban guns you still have the problems of all the guns already in circulation. You can't just say ban guns and problem solved but you also can't say they're not part of the problem. Keyword, part.

Maybe, but it works really well and WD40 is cheap as shit and available everywhere. It's not for making your metalwork in the kitchen nice and shiny either but there you go, a little squirt on a cloth, quick rub and it's shining.

  25. In that particular instance, not much, neither at charlie hebdo before that. There is literally nothing you can do to stop some determined people with a plan, you can't uninvent the gun and if you could they would use something else. You do know though that those guys didn't just walk into a shop to buy their guns and ammo the week before. They went to a lot of effort to get those guns there. When was the last shooting in Europe before that, and the one before that, and before that? No one is saying it doesn't happen because it does but compare that to the frequency of shootings in America and then tell me gun availability has nothing to do with it. In Europe it's very rare, in America it's all too common.
