Yeah ok fine. We'll take these known massive polluters over...what is it you're scared of? Terrorists attacking a nuclear powered ship, some how deconstructing the core and building a dirty bomb or something? Grow up.
Funny thing is, the Streisand Effect will most likely kick-in hard for them, especially once it made the papers there.
Seriously - a multinational corporation can put up with bad press and survive, but most smaller businesses cannot.
Given that this is a UK company, I'm rather surprised that they didn't reach for the libel laws - even if the lady was absolutely correct and true, the legal costs would have likely ruined her faster than a DMCA takedown would have.
Or instead they could do the decent thing and say sorry to hear your ceiling collapsed, hope everyone is ok, we'll come around have a look and fix it.
That way they get to be a decent company with good service, and this woman tells people about it. Sure it's not going to spread as far or fast as bad news, it never does. But when you're a dick about something everyone wants to know about it and it ends up on slashdot or some other website where way more people than ever would see it sees it.
The reason military vessels have nuclear power is that they are secured by military force.
I've seen this comment a few times. It's almost a wonder that nuclear power stations aren't being attacked everyday. I guess they all have military staff and highly trained armies on guard rather whatever for profit security firm they use.....oh wait.
3MI, Fujiyama, Chernobyl? Need I to mention any more?
Because no regular power stations have blown up ever, or chemical plants. Yeah I know what you're going to say, radiation, contamination blah blah blah but I'd counter with global warming. You can figure out which you'd prefer.
It's a cruise ship. People go there for their holidays, to have a good time, and to not worry about things.
You don't have to make a big deal of it. Not hide it, just not shout about it. Say they do it, there would probably be a bunch of news stories at the time which no one reads anyway. When people book on these ships I doubt what type of engine it has has any significance. As long as you don't call it nuclear nelly or something most folk would be none the wiser. Then the longer it goes without exploding in a huge green fireball the less people would be bothered.
They post some kind of political or social thing, it gets 500+ comments, half of which are this isn't news for nerds etc. They post some actual science/space/news for nerds and no one's about. And half the people that did turn up are talking about shitting in the streets....
Wow, Slashdot. So my comment gets downvoted *twice* to "flamebate" and then a comment "To be fair, the sentence probably should have contained the word "each"." from a different user gets upvoted to +5 (Informative). What am I missing?
To be fair, the sentence probably should have contained the word "each".
Perhaps, but I think it would be pretty obvious to anyone who thought about it for a moment.
Only if you've read the previous summary "Over the two hours attackers withdrew the equivalent of $907 in 14,000 different transactions." on it's own says exactly that. There are a bunch of ways to say what they meant but that's not one of them.
Netflix has already locked up all the other content which would also be desirable to those consumers, so that another provider wouldn't be able to even negotiate for it, thus leaving a segment of the market unserved, since they wouldn't also be able to provide what Netflix has.
That seems to be the problem. Netflix is an established thing that exists. No one can come along and say we're going to do the same thing but only with french and other non english european language films because no one would give a shit enough to pay for it so instead they're forcing netflix to do it so the few people that do want can be pushed to netflix. Meanwhile there's a bunch of content that no one wants, no one is watching but has been mandated into existence because seemingly if it's not there it won't be there.
For those of you who don't live in the UK, please be aware, 99% of everything in the Daily Mail is lies. This rises to 99.9% for stories about "Europe". Be ye warned.
The only thing true in the daily fail is the date.
The only decent thing that has come out of that shithole in the past several decades if the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Disagree. Those movies are some of the most mindless drivel ever produced. Sure they're chock full of eye candy and they sure do look nice but they are crap.
Was the argument they would have been more resistant to be being taken over if they had their own 'Doctors' or 'Home & Away' to rally behind and unify them?
19-2 , Corner Gas, North of 60, Kids in the Hall, Nature of Things, there have been a bunch of popular Canadian shows, just not all of them reach international audiences
Due South? Was that Canadian? It had a mountie...mounty...one of them guys in the red coats in it.
Look, isn't god supposed to have this plan? So if Clinton wins it's his fault. Maybe he will have to send himself to be sacrificed to himself to save us from himself again.
One would hope the person making the margarita isn't also the nuclear technician. But then, I guess it would be excuse as to why the drink didn't turn out.
Just because the drink is glowing, doesn't mean it's a cocktail.
I never said it wasn't a word. You fail reading comprehension. I said that guy insists on using an obscure word that's basically never used instead or the more standard one everyone groks in order to try and sound clever. Just like this guy insisted on spelling magic as magick. It might be in the dictionary but it doesn't mean that you don't look like a twat for doing it.

That is interesting, but how does it relate?
The reason military vessels have nuclear power is that they are secured by military force.

Very simple reason why.
It's a cruise ship. People go there for their holidays, to have a good time, and to not worry about things.

I wonder what argument NIMBYs will to try to shitcan it some places.
Isn't natural beauty their go to line when they can't think of anything else.
Only if you've read the previous summary "Over the two hours attackers withdrew the equivalent of $907 in 14,000 different transactions."
It was a 5-sentence summary. Who reads the last line without reading the first few sentences?
The last line may have been a little clumsy on its own but if that's all a person can be bothered to read then they deserve to be confused.
That is true. What is also true is that sentence is badly written.
They post some kind of political or social thing, it gets 500+ comments, half of which are this isn't news for nerds etc. They post some actual science/space/news for nerds and no one's about. And half the people that did turn up are talking about shitting in the streets....

A snappy username?
My desk lamp sits on the floor, you insensitive clod!!
Is it not then a floor lamp?
To be fair, the sentence probably should have contained the word "each".
Perhaps, but I think it would be pretty obvious to anyone who thought about it for a moment.

But hey.. Keep using your American cell phone to post on this American website, hypocritical cunt.
Hey, we'll stop using your stuff when you stop using our language. OK?

Just because the drink is glowing, doesn't mean it's a cocktail.
But one would think that folks with Aspergers would learn that they should perhaps think twice...or more before making a literal response.
We don't even expect women to remember that they get emotional every month and you want aspies to remember that they aren't masters of conversation?
Probably because people with Aspergers react a lot better when you remind them.

Good idea. You could call it something simple, like the food and drug administration.
And as we all know when something is done for profit then it is being done to the highest possible standards.
According to the Bible: "A fool and his money soon departs."
Is it not "A fool and his money are soon parted". Your way implies the fool and his money leave together.
