They could import I guess, maybe playasia carries them. The point is though there's plenty of alternatives to an iPad so if you don't want a locked down platform, don't buy one.

As much as I'm in the anti-apple camp but are they also going to sue microsoft, sony and nintendo for having total control over what goes on their platforms? It's not as if there's no alternative to the iPad, how about an iPed (http://kotaku.com/5549865/china-rips-off-the-ipad-with-the-iped)

"According to this TBS news report, the iPed is on sale in Shenzhen, China. Shenzhen is the location of the largest Foxconn plant, where the iPhone and the iPad are manufactured. The iPed comes packaged in a box that looks like the iPod. While it is slightly heavier than the iPad, the device is powered by an Intel chip and runs on Google's open source operating system Android. But like the iPad, it is a multi-media device. And is priced at the equivalent of ¥9,600 (US$105). The iPad is priced at ¥48,800 ($536) in The Land of the Rising Sun."

    Bargain.

Satelite can deliver HD quality images. Cable proably can to (dont have it here) netflix is streaming so obviously that wont deliver blu ray quality. I just think the cost of blu ray is overall prohibitive. You may demand the highest quality regardless but whos to say you cant download that quality? You can download qualitys higher that blu ray if you have a display capable of it. I just think a media server is the best way to go and is the way johnny as-little-effort-as-possible is going to go for it. A big HD and suitable connection is much cheaper than a blu-ray player. Price+convinence really puts DD at a winner. And thats direct download. Not streaming. Of course the companies can easily fuck it up with drm issues etc but thats besides the point. My point anyway.

If you really want the highest quality to watch movies as they should be, you should be on film and projector. More resolution than you could possibly need there.

So yeah what are the chances of a healthy price drop to go with it. Slim is my guess.

If we were dealing in photo's of a car, then it can stick but untill then, they need to come up with a better ad that doesn't annoy 90% of the people who see it, every damn time, except that would eat into their already dwindling profits.
