I especially enjoy the numerous self-defeating remarks that scientists claim. The overall theme is that it takes alot of FAITH to believe in science.... good read.
The current story line has been really good, I really enjoyed the past few episodes and have actually been waiting each week for the next episode to come out.
The only bad thing is I'm a huge Stargate Fan, and this is the last season of SG1, so now I better get the Tivo fired up if they are in the same time slots.
Basically, I am glad they renewed the show, and I hope they keep up the good story lines...
SN41G2 ($209) + 512 MB Crucial Ram ($75) + Athlon XP 2500 ($85) all was bought at Newegg.com. They were running a deal on the SN41G2 which I believe has since expired.
Hauppauge PVR-250 OEM was bought on Ebay for $86 plus $10 shipping. You can usually find these cards for around $130 online.
120 Gig Western Digital HD was bought at Best Buy for $139 with a $70 rebate.
I also had to throw in an old DVD-Rom from my old PC that I had laying around.
Coincidentially, I used the live KnoppixMyth CD to get my PVR working this week. I struggled for 2 weeks trying to get my Shuttle SN41G2 Xpc to work with Slackware 9.1. I then stumbled upon the KnoppixMyth web site and decided to give it a try.
In less than two hours, I was up and running, recording TV.
Much credit and thanks due to the KnoppixMyth guys for the easy install!!

just for the record, SG-1 is not on every day. X-Files is on ALOT now, and between SCIFi, TNT, and FX that show may actually be on every day. SCIfi airs SG-1 re-runs on Mondays with 4 1-hour episodes. It airs the new 1 hour episodes twice on Friday. But that is only when they are not playing stupid B-Movies like Route 666.
I personally love SG-1 and I was never able to watch it because it was sydicated on a channel that ran it at 2am every other Saturday or something like that.
So now with all the re-runs I can catch up on what I missed. Even though you get a similar plot for every episode, I still enjoy the different content. Anyways, when you look at any TV show, is the plot extremely different from week to week? Not usually.
I'll admit that plot is vital, but broken down in to the simpliest form any story also relies on a theme, a purpose, the setting and the characters. For example, I love Stargate SG1.
Not because every week the plot is so different: Team travels through gate to a new planet, discovers new beings, beings have/cause problem, team resolves it. It is because of everything else.
I am able to relate with the story, relate with the characters, and probably the most important fact is that I am entertained.
At the end of each of the PC descriptions it says:
Special Offer -- Select up to 3 free software applications from the Lindows.com Warehouse of software applications
I personally do not like the wording of that. Isn't Lindows a software repository of packages, or are they charging after the first 3 downloads?
If I actually get to pay less for capped speeds, or if I could pay more for higher speeds, I would be fine with it. I really like the way WOW Cable Internet has set up their pricing structure.
WOW! Internet Value: $29.95 (Download Speeds Up To 112Kps)
WOW! Internet Basic: $39.95 (Download Speeds Up To 500Kps)
WOW! Internet Advanced: $44.95 (Download Speeds Up To 1.5MB)
I have Comcast Internet right now and the speed is horrible because I live in an apartment complex, and the lines get spliced about 80 times before it reaches my apartment. At least I would be able to pay less for my slower speeds.
Also, if all i wanted was a fast browsing experience then I would pay say $30 a month. If I am a bandwidth hogging gamer, I can opt to pay more for that type of service.
Unfortunately because of the abuse from certain users, I think cable/dsl may be forced to raise prices. If prices go any higher, then I am dropping my service, and I would think that others would too.
Really though, it is time to start banding together and creating wireless networks for our neighborhoods, and divide up the costs of the hardlines between everyone. =)
What about dumpster diving behind book binderies? =) It's amazing that if a page is cut slightly funny during the binding process, it can still be sold over the net for about half of the cover price...
I always get flamed when I post stuff like this but...
Throughout college and for the next few years of my life I am going to live in an apartment complex and I really don't understand why newer apartment complexes aren't taking into consideration high speed internet access.
Run some Cat5 through the walls and build a telephone/wiring closet into each building.
Then raise the rent about $10 a month which will absorb the cost of a T-1 and a part-time techie. 25 buildings x 12 tenants x $10 = $3000. $1500 for the T-1 connection and $1500 to keep the techie happy.
Wireless would be great, but I'll agree with the person who posted up above and say there is way too much junk out there interfering with the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
So explain Psychology, you conscious (if you have one), human compassion, why we can talk, why we have a great capability to learn and a drive to achieve...
But you say, oh apes can talk and can learn, and have compassion. And I say, you are correct, so can my dog. But neither has made any great advancements in scientific research lately, and my dog likes to go pee on my fence on regular basis.
Bruce, I've seen a lot of your films (ED, ED2, AoD, Hudsucker Proxy) and because of your work with Sam Raimi, I have seen a lot of Raimi films (Darkman, Quck and the Dead, A Simple Plan) but I have to say that my favorite genre is your great style of TV series. Jack of All Trades and Brisco County Jr. were both great TV shows and I watched every episode. (Still catch Brisco when I'm up Saturday mornings.) My question is, do you have any plans to star or co-star in any more TV series?
btw - I already saw a question for DVD's, a "Best of Bruce on TV" DVD Series would be awesome!!
Agenda VR3 is getting better every day. Soon it will play MP3s... hopefully, and I can already play a mean game of Solitare while I travel... and it does the regular stuff like contacts, email, etc... and soon it will have ethernet.
Go Buy One and write some more apps for it....:)
This thing is pretty nifty, and it has all the features that you listed... i think. Looks pretty light-weight, and even has a built-in speaker...

I live just outside of Grand Rapids Michigan, and was able to get DSL because my CO is across the street from my apartment complex. (I think that would be a selling point for these apartments) But I usually get about 700 kbps up/down and max out just over 800 kbps.
Just wanted to say that Bruce Campbell is the man!! He has his own web site here. Ever since I saw Army of Darkness, I have been following Bruce Campbell. He is currently starring in a series called Jack of All Trades (joat) which you can read about here!! Also, i thought I saw someone post this already but you can still catch Brisco County Jr. on TNT Saturdays at 10:00AM (est). Also, the new Army of Darkness single Director's Cut DVD comes out next week! cool. I think Bruce would make an awesome addition to X-Files.... actually he has already starred in one episode as a sympathetic demon...:)
This is a really good book that I recently purchased. Has some really interesting concepts and arguments which would be on the flipside of this TV show....1 345615?v=glance

So is it illegal to download Euopean MP3's? There is a ton of music from the 40's and 50's that would be great to own.

Sure enough, this story and the X86still story from todays quickies have both already been on Slashdot before... why the repeats?
