My fiance and I have a.us website for our wedding information, bridal party, etc etc. No personal info is on it other than first names and general locations in the country. The only personal contact info comes from WhoIs.
Being that I'm a guy (and why do guys care about wedding crap;-) as well as single (pre-engagement) for most of my life, it's funny to see the amount of wedding-related-spam, wedding-related-phishing (free honey moon trips in particular) and general 'newlywed'-minded spam I get now.
And not just email..
I've been phone contacted by various scammers hawking wedding packages, giving away free trips for sitting in informative-sessions, etc.
All because of registering a.us website for our upcoming wedding.
So yeah, there's a big reason imo to be able to keep contact info private.
To survive, I eat very well. I'm quasi-demi-vegetarian (seafood is fine, I'll only eat poultry on holidays (thxgiving, etc), no mammal meat (pork, beef, etc), so I basically eat fruit and salads all day. I drink water when I'm thirsty instead of soda. If I really need to have something sweet, I drink juice or tea or something that's not carbonated - not that it's bad, it just a pain if you sit all day.
And I excercise a lot. Walking/running w/ 2 65lb+ Retrievers (1 black lab, 1 golden) is good. I also go indoor/outdoor (now that the weather is picking up) rock climbing at least 2-3 times a week. I still feel flabby and overweight but I think it's more to do with the fact that 12-13 hours of every day are spent sitting.
Get a new job as soon as possible. Or consider doing your own thing.
4 hours of commute (~ 150 miles a day), 8 hours of being there. When it was 100 miles/day and 3 hours of traffic I could cope with it (did it for a year and a half), but I just recently moved and now I'm no longer tolerating it.
I'm planning to start my own production company and I'm still in the researching phase - otherwise I would have quit already.
Oh and most happiness comes from working for that happiness. Not all, but most.
You'd rather work and work and work and then give the credit for all your work (to achieve that happiness) to god once you decide your happy? You're perogative of course, but just seems a bit off to me;=)
Can anyone tell me why tables are so bad for layout? A bad designer is a bad designer, regardless of what they craft in. A competent graphic artist will know how to build a mockup that is adaptable to non-fixed-width window, and a good web designer will know how to put that into code. There's more to design (annd tables) than that, but most of the complaints seem to be about layout.
Yeah, the potential to make asshorrible tables+layouts is there, but the potential to make asshorrible ANYTHING is there if you aren't very skilled with what you're trying to do. It all comes down to the skill of the designer.
You're an idiot. I'm getting tired of seeing all of this copyrightviolation!=theft crap.
If you obtain something through which you have not reimbursed (or otherwise have a mutual agreement with) the person/party entitled to compensation for previous obtainment, that's theft. It's all theft. Copyright violation is specific kind of theft that was commited.
Blenders interface is quite good and quite powerful. The problem with it is that it's nothing like most people are used to so there's no real 'get acclumated' point with it. It's all or nothing.
But, once you know the interface, it's rock solid. The layout makes sense, the buttons make sense, the general operation of it totally makes sense and you realize that it wasn't as big a problem as initially made out. No, it's not easy, but once you condition yourself to think the way it was designed, you're aces.
FWIW, Blender is in the middle of a ground-up UI redesign that's trying to be a bit more no0b friendly; try to brush off some of that initial learning curve shock.
One of the problems with Gimp is that it does have all of these UI things that people are used to, but either they don't operate in a manner that is expected given that UI element, or it produces a result (or next step) that doesn't make sense given that elements task. Basically, common ideas doing uncommon things, against what you would commonly expect.
The second major problem is no real concrete UI design/guidelines (though it's better in v2) so there's an overall inconsistency throughout the program - which largely goes back to the first point. If common UI elements were consistently used in uncommon ways, it's not that difficult to get used to. But the inconsistency makes it that much more frustrating when you can't figure it out (but think you should be able to).
Take off the 'sling' modifier:...that the star was shot out of the... or...that the star was shotted out of the...
That's the rule; works in pretty much any instance you'll come across. If it doesn't, there's generally another word to fix it (ie: runned != ran, stoled != stole/stolen, etc). Hope that helps!
I'm also an active musician (of around 20 years). Additionally, I too build my own gear (instruments, speakers/cabinets, effects and other solid state junk). Basically everything I play currently I built.
Also, I'm a bassist, not a guitartist and our gear is A LOT different. And no, I don't regularly crack open amps, but when I do, I know what I'm looking at (let alone know how to count;-).
Sorry, I didn't realize people would be so anal about generalized non-really-specific info.
Most modern musical instrument (guitar and bass specifically) preamp gear you buy today has 1 or 2 tubes, usually for 1) enharmonics enhancement and sometimes 2) that tube distortion people oh so love. Sometimes a tube for each channel in vocal preamps, etc.
I wasn't getting into a whole diatribe about what the point of those tubes were, I was basically stating that if you go to a music store to buy some gear with tubes in it, you'll generally find the gear has one or two tubes (and not always 12ax7's tho those are the most popular), so (the topic poster) shouldn't ditch the stuff because there's a healthy demand for what s-he's got.
My Mesa Bass 400+ (500watts) has 12 6L6 (iirc) tubes for the power amp.
By the by, Fender's Bass 300 has 10 tubes (6 6L6s (or comp) for the power amp and a host of others for the preamp).
Tube preamps generally use only 1 or 2 tubes. Power amps are a whole other story. I've got 12 tubes in one of my Mesa bass heads and that's pretty typical.
Seriously, to the topic poster, you've got a fortune on your hands. Don't give it up so quickly.
Just an FYI, civics classes (basing from your id #) like we had in high school haven't been around in nearly a decade. In fact, my junior year of HS (94 iirc) was the year civics was entirely phased out (and I went to good HS, properly sized classes, music and art programs in good check, etc). (I work in a public school system and I just checked the 2004-05 HS Catalog of classes just to make sure I wasn't misinforming)
American History is still taught, but it's basically as a timeline of events. Civics used to cover everything from your responsibilities as a US citizen to the goals and purpose of the amendments, Bill of Rights, etc.
Basically, everything being taught now comes from a point of view of no judgement calls. If there is something open to interpretation, either it's not taught, or it's taught from a historical context as opposed to the 'meaning' or 'message' of said lesson.
It's how you can teach a religious studies class in a HS. You can learn the history, you just can't preach the subject matter. The same rules now apply to 'preaching US citizenship'.
Apple needs to increase the pixel density of the LCDs in the laptops. Make the 17" a 1600x1024 or something.
I had the 17" (1440x900) for about a year and it was quite nice, but even that resolution felt constricting using the apps Apple markets around that PB (Final Cut Pro/Exp, DVDSP, Shake, etc).
Incremental upgrades for the system, incrementally upgrade the display as well.
It's interesting that you define success by aiming for the lowest common denominator and achieving the mundane.
Isn't that what we all get on Microsoft for?

Update...
I'm turning in my 2 week notice today. I can't handle the stress that the commute is causing anymore.
Good thing Europe finally came around and realized that they were missing out on all the fun that can be had from greedy litigation!
Sooner or later someone's going to patent 'screw the system and do your own thing'. Then things are really going to be fun..
Oh, to keep on topic...

Numa Numa song on my Motorola 710 thanks to it's flash memory, mp3 playback and mp3 ringtones. Awesome phone!

I'd like to get the original hamster dance song, but I can't seem to find the original-original anymore.

You're an idiot.
You're taking away reimbursement to XYZ for whatever it was that was obtained.
YEAH, it's copying. It's copying something you would have otherwise had to have bought for you to get.
Don't be daft.
