Another interpretation (only slightly more extreme than yours) is that even prisoners and inmates of mental hospitals, being citizens, have a right to keep and bear arms - a right that is inalienable under any circumstances.
Comedians have already considered this possibility. Took me a while to realize it was satire.
Do you feel the same way about bluetooth hands free phone conversations? I don't advocate distracted driving, but by your logic that is just playing a game to beat tickets as well. Clearly pretty much every auto manufacturer in the world should be ashamed. Be afraid!
Had a first gen one, just replaced it with a Steel last year.
When I am out biking, I use Runkeeper to display time/speed/distance on my wrist. No need to fumble with a phone. When I am out golfing, I use Freecaddie to show me distance to the green - phone stays in my pocket. When I am driving, I can see incoming texts without risking a hefty ticket looking at a "handheld device". I can see who is calling anytime and decide if it worth taking the phone out of my pocket or not. I can likewise control the music player and leave the phone in my jacket. My regular watchface gives me the time and current weather. The battery goes almost a week on a charge, and it is waterproof.
I don't know that "smartwatch" is really the right name though, basically it is just a remote display, with a few buttons for feedback to the phone, but in that context I find it very handy.
The Muslims I know are just as horrified as anyone at these attacks. And on top of that they know people will question their beliefs and humanity, so they are victims as welll.
I don't judge all Catholics by the plethora of pedophiles in their clergy and the systemic protection of same all the way up to the Vatican. And I don't judge Muslims by the rabid dogs that pretend to be part of that religion either.
And if you do, I think you are a douchebag, but that is a judgement based only on you individually, and not whatever groups you may ostensibly belong to.
it's obvious the car would have a ton more value if it didn't require a licensed and capable driver.
Absolutely. Children, drunks, the blind and the elderly could all benefit from personal transport. Also, drivers are one of the largest unpredictables for autonomous cars. The less drivers there are, the better they will communicate and work together.
Not to mention that if the cars drive well in normal conditions, the driver is unlikely going to be paying enough attention to "take charge" in an emergency anyway. They will be reading the paper or writing an email or watching a movie on the big screen. Being constantly vigilant and waiting to take over from the car in a split second would be a worse user experience than just driving it yourself.
Myself, I like driving and am in no rush to have an AV, but when they really hit the mainstream I expect manual driving to be highly discouraged.
They should seriously take the practical victory that Obama gave them by not nominating an arch-liberal to the court and go with the moderate.
Absolutely. They can take a moderate now, or gamble on a big win in November. If they win the best they get is another Scalia. If they lose they get a liberal who will change the court profoundly.
I'm not even American, but your country is like watching a reality TV show.
And, the US (and US made products) will irrevocably cease to be trustworthy.
I've pointed this out before with much derision, but notwithstanding the fact they are all built in China, I am probably better off buying a phone designed and engineered in China as well.
If the Chinese have a backdoor and are spying on me, oh well it is not like they can do much with that info anyway. They don't have cops that can break down my door. They can't mess with my bank accounts. The Chinese don't really care about Joe Western Citizen.
My own government, OTOH, is quite capable of doing bad things based on such spying, and also have a far greater interest in spying on every Joe Citizen. China is much more concerned with spying on their own citizens (for exactly the same reason). Obviously this only applies to typical consumers - businesses with intellectual property to protect or potential military targets are a different argument.
Honestly, I'd rather the Chinese know who I called or where I had dinner every day. Enjoy. Knock yourself out.
It's sad state of affairs when I trust my own government less than them.
The fact that they're even trying to provide USB charging makes me worry that they totally don't understand how to protect public hardware from vandalism.
Pretty much same here. A public mesh network has lots of potential.
Kiosks might work in trendy, well lit, low crime areas. With cameras. And regular patrols.
what is becoming of America. The regular almost daily parade of articles like this, and listening to the likes of Trump makes me imagine what 1930s Germany must have been like.
Profoundly glad as a Canadian that it does not seem to be that highly contagious.

If people are that against nuclear then I am fine with coal.
I don't lose sleep either way.
ROFLMAO! You know shit about my driving.

Will you just be able to type that in and it will be clever enough to follow those instructions?
Yes. And then it will kick your butt at a game of Go.

Cue Red Barchetta by Rush here.
They should add a sobering graphic of North Korea's half-life should they ever launch an armed missile at anyone.

Just sayin.
Enjoy your armed crazies then!
That's what you want, that's what you get.
If it takes 32,000 workers to run a plant I can see why nuclear has trouble being cost effective.

We will never really know that he was not accidentally shot by Dick Cheney
Nothing to be learned from it anyway. Should lock it up forever. (cough)
Nothing against pfSense, but how well does it scale for organizations with 10s or 100s of thousands of users?
Why would I give you my data when you are only going to try and find something wrong with it? - Phil Jones.
temperatures have not been "remarkably steady for the past 19 years or so"
They have been compared to the previous century.

Highly inconvenient, I know.
From Milankovitch Cycles alone you would conclude that the cooling would continue. But it isn't.
Why would anyone think it was Milankovich cycles alone? Still lots they clearly don't understand.
Here is the average temperature anomaly by decade....
Thanks. I always like to point out warming is nothing new also. It is an interglacial after all so that is an easy bet.
Without an understanding of natural climate, there’s no strong basis for predicting climate change

Kids need to be taught that spying on each other is normal and good long before university.

Yes, that was my first thought when I read the article. We have read about them many times before.
These are just those rent-a-cops paid for by the MAFIAA
