We have 1 dollar coins in Australia. They are the same size as a 10c coin. We have 2 dollar coins, they are the same size as a 5c coin. Nobody here seems to have a problem confusing them. Maybe Americans are just a bit thick.
The government knows I'm not enrolled. The AEC has been sending me enrolment forms ever since I turned 17 (so for the past 5 years). I just put them in my 'filing cabinet' (i.e. rubbish bin.) Crime or not they don't seem to care about it, otherwise they would have fined me or something by now.
I absolutely agree about ie5/6's box model making more sense. I should be able to set padding on an element without it affecting the overall width. It would make things a whole lot easier.
In any case I'd like to see somebody with no surname try to sign up for any government assistance or benefits like Medicare or Centrelink. Or apply for a Tax File Number. Or even apply for utilities (phone, water, power etc). It would be impossible to live in Australia without a surname. If it's good enough for government departments/organisations to require a surname then it's good enough for me.
Well, I'm pretty sure that a surname is a legal requirement in Australia, so even if there are immigrants that have a single name, they would have had to create a surname to immigrate here anyway.
(I'm the AC btw, that was my first post here and I didn't notice the post anonymously checkbox)

Prostitutes can't be raped. It's more a case of shoplifting.

If you don't like having to vote then you shouldn't enroll. I never enrolled, didn't vote in the last 3 or 4 elections and I haven't even had a fine.
