you just need to change your definition of what a "karma whore" is. You attack people for posting "long, informative posts" for "karma whoring." Do you even realize how stupid this is?!?
Sheesh, all this time I thought it was a compliment.
These guys are bad. They took so long I cancelled before they even had a chance to set up the account...about 1 week. After that, they stung me CC 3 months in a row. Finaly I had to go to my bank and file a report to get my money back from the CC company.
They are nice if you can get a hold of them...just don't believe them and don't ever give them a CC number.
I've always wondered how this can be legal. How can a company have an agreement like this and not display it until after I open the product or visit the site? I don't know much about law so this has always bothered me. If I never read the liscense when browsing the site, is it ok to break the liscense? I wouldn't think so as that would be "getting around the agreement". But, if the company fails to show me thie agreement first, how can it apply? The same goes for software which has the EULA inside the shrinkwrap.

I agree...almost..:) go back to school for a couple of years, repeat until dead.
Why? Why spend 3-6 yrs in a program only to have the skills you have learned in that program become obsolete by the time you are done? Why not discover what you are interested in on your own and pursue it and learn it on your own? What is the obesession with a diploma? Most would argue that management wants a diploma of some sort. I say, ask yourself why. I think formal education is great....if you don't have the dedication to learn on your own. Why spend the rest of you life, essentially paying off mortgage after mortgage on formal education when you could actually do it on your own? It costs too much, it takes too much time, and you are damn near obsolete when you are done. Learn on your own. It's faster, it's more satisfying, and it shows much greater dedication. You are doing it because you want to, not because you'll loose $70,000 if you fail.
It could be. I think there are many people and managers out there who go to school, graduate, and then don't bother to keep up. School is not enough. School is there to teach you how to learn....that's it. Once you leave, it is an ongoing process. Most, unfortunatly don't understand this. If you keep up with the technology, and do your best to stay current, you'll never be out of a job. Learn to learn without school, otherwise you are doomed.
BTW, I'm 22 years old with a grade 9 formal education working as a programmer in Canada making more money than I'd ever dreamed of.
I think this proves, at least to me, that paper will only take you so far....
I think more bands should boot over to www.knexa.com, put their stuff up and let the marketplace decide what it's worth. They make cash, we get the mp3's we want. It's perfect.
Personally, I think the US Gov. stands up on the "playground" far too often. Countries which differ in opinion from the US have three choices when they voice those opinions: be bombed, economic sanctions, or both. I for one am tired of the US stomping all over everyone. I am also tired of Canada following them 90% of the time.
Same here...It's been horid the past few days, and with no explanation from Andover/ Slashdot, The site is no longer my homepage.
Although I've only recently signed up an account, I've been coming here for a few years. I expect an explanation of some sort when these things go on. Without this community we have Slashdot would not survive. Without letting us in on problems which affect us all we have no community.
I've been storing a certain trade secret in my browser which was made by the same company that a new trade secret came from. I guess I just thought that the company's own software would be the best place to store such important information.
I guess I'll have to delete that cookie, but where the heck am I going to store this important trade secret now?
I agree. I think much of the slamming of Intel comes from people who think of them as a "Big Evil Corporation", just because they are large and have a large market share. They might be big but they are not evil. I think many of us use AMD chips simply because they are an alternative to Evil Intel. People like to side with the "little guy" even if it means some sort of sacrifice. I'm not saying that choosing AMD is a bad thing or that Intel is better.
Intel is doing a very good thing here and it's gonna cost them a fortune.
I'm not trying to flame anyone here...it's just how I see things.
cd /usr/dumb-stuff | grep "internet" > /sbin/approved

You're just jealous that your favorite despot isn't capable of doing the stomping, or lost the stomping war.
Actually no. I'm quite happy not to bend others to my will.
Stop being so self-righteous.
I'm sorry this is how you see it. I am merely expressing my opinion. There really is no reason to get personal about it.
You only serve to annoy your betters.
I'm sure my betters would not fear what others may think of their opinion and not hide behind the AC veil.
