But if only the rich people are able to watch TV, then the poor people won't have the stupidifying effect. They will advance through society through pure ability, until they become wealthy. Then they will buy HDTV's, and become ensnared, making room for the next wave of smart poor people.
This new encoding scheme breaks that plan completely! ___
A V-Chip is a way to enforce what a parent tells a kid. Trust me, if a kid wants to watch a blocked show (and cant find a workaround), that parent will find themselves embroiled in a detailed discussion of why that show should be allowed. ___
While I agree that this will give them more ammo, it will be quite hilarious in the mean time. Imagine a court brief stating that: "The file name scrambling technique known to be used by AIMster in renaming copyright protected songs for use on the Napster file sharing service is known to use Pig Latin as it's name scrambling technique. This language has been around for decades and cannot be construed as a valid file name encryption scheme..." I mean, how funny is that?!
Lawyers are quite adept at making ridiculous arguments with a perfecly straight face and not a touch of irony. You can't embarrass a trial lawyer. ___

You seem to be pretty disappointed in how the current system works, yet you think it's the best possible. Isn't that a bit odd when you think about it?
Ever hear the phrase "Our system of government is the worst one possible, except for all the others." Pithy, but not unusual. Sometimes the best solution stinks, too. Also, I think that in both cases, we could replace 'possible' with 'so far.' (BTW, the quote is a paraphrase, and it may be from Mark Twain or Ambrose Bierce, I'm not sure.) ___
That's the basis of monopoly law. When you become an 800 lb gorilla, you are no longer allowed to do some of the stuff that smaller gorillas do. You may reap the monetary benefits that come from your great weight, but you can't beat up smaller gorillas anymore. ___
Funny... The TV rights are restricted to an action-adventure fantasy (as seems appropriate), but the movie rights seem to have no such restriction. It seems to me that as long as the movie doesn't have the fantasy element, there really is no confusion. And there are a lot of movies with the same title, but different subjects (or even the same subject)... ___
Seems like a simple addition to slashcode, I dunno why they don't do it.
Because then there would be more posts saying just *plonk* than there ever were Natalie Portman or ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US posts.
What nobody refuses to explore is how humans evolved so rapidly in comparison with all other species.
Did we? Once we reached our current form, we certainly spread quickly, but that's just evidence of a good evolutionary change, not a quick one. I haven't heard before that we had an especially quick evolution. ___
