You got me thinking. I could pop the hood on my car and figure out how it works, but I don't.
You don't have to. There are garages all over the place that can fix your car for you. With closed source software, only one company is legally allowed to fix it. And it is not worth their time to do so if there are very few people who need it fixed in that way. I think that Ford would lose a great deal of business, and possibly land themselves a lawsuit, if they required customers to have all of their maintenance and repairs done at a Ford dealer.
If you have a cable box, they know every keypress on the cable box remote. Even if they have no idea what to do with all that information, there's a cottage industry in finding new ways to sort, package, and sell customer data. If your cable is plugged directly into the TV, they probably don't know anything, but it is probably theoretically possible to get channel changes and power on/off if they were desperate.
IIRC, the members of the enforcement committee will be personally responsible for any lapses that come to light. MS may still try to make it worth their while to take the blame, but it could be a hard sell.
You seem to have skipped the second sentence of the post you replied to, even though the editorial corrections you refer to would undoubtedly appear on the scanned pages. One way around it might be that each page is covered under fair use, and they are not served to the proofreader in order, so you never are given more than a one-page exerpt.
I do wonder what they plan to do about the current residents of whatever state they choose, in the case that they do not agree with the group's
intensions.
Wonder no more. They plan to (1) attempt to persuade them to change their minds, and (2) outperform them at the voting booths. What did you have in mind?
Not worth it. The DC government has no power to do anything meaningful. The congressional committees in charge of the District pretty much have veto power over almost anything DC tries to do.
Though, if DC were picked, it would be quite convenient for me.
Even worse was the "steam-powered-car" episode. Each team found a working steam engine and a working boiler among the junk. One engine was hidden in the back of a van.
Oh come on! Do you believe all propaganda or only most of it?
My guess is only propaganda from one party. If he believed all propaganda, he would be unable to do anything except stare blankly and slowly spin in circles...
Perhaps you should work on reading comprehension before you tackle insightfulness. The wealth of the 9/11 terrorists is not relevant. back_pages was remarking that even the most merciless attacks will not prevent terrorism.
By color is the worst way to sort Lego pieces! What's easier, finding the red piece in a sea of identical shapes, or finding the right shape in a sea of red pieces?
Color-blind people may want to sort by both shape and color, but never sort by color alone!

Yes. Unfortunately, in terms of the legal system, OUR world is the bizarro one.

You have to have it hooked up to a computer to use it (I think)
No, you don't. You have to hook it up to a computer to burn MP3-CDs, but it works as a standalone player of said CDs.
IANADL (D is for Danish)
Good enough for me!

You have the right to choose a different phone company.
What makes you say that?
The Lizard's twin brother was a wrestling announcer?

I expect that newer encoders will show you what the embedded info is, and allow you to put it into the tags. Assuming this tech takes off.

Communism is. China isn't. Anything with a ruling party isn't about equality.

It's easy. vote against incumbents.
Or worse - a closeup of the offending bit on the back of the pants.
I set one up to play the entire William Tell Overture and Greensleeves if the user didn't answer '6' to a Y/N question...
He was probably referring to those smart gorillas from the "Justice League", with the huge hidden city.
What are you trying to say? That the RCC is evil, or that Scientology is good?
And that cake actually comes apart into slices. Wow. But this is his masterpiece, as far as I am concerned.
