My great great great grandfather patented patenting in patent No 1 it was recently recovered...so for each patent issued since I'm due a licencing fee...
Actually I am on a medically planned diet to deal with my triple combo of High Blood Pressure/High Triglicerides/Insulin Resistance. I am so wrong side of the Heart Attack risk group it's down right scary at times. I eat what I eat under medical supervision. 6 or so visits a year to both the Doctor and the cardiac nutrionist. Fats in my diet are only allowed in very strict qantities to much of anything puts my trigs through the roof...and they stay there for days... carbs and sugars are also extremely restricted to much of either and I end up pricking my finger for the rest of my life and on insulin therapy, again not preferable. Then there is the blood pressure, to much of any of a number of wrong things and my blood pressure goes to triple digits TOP and bottom numbers.
I eat what I eat becuase thats what i am told to eat. Just enough eat protien to keep me running. They would rather I got that protien from fish, but I hate fish, so therefore I have to work within the restrictions and get most of it from Chicken and Turkey for the most part. The leanest cut of Pork or Beef is to much for the balance in my system to handle more than once a week or so...
I know I'm not getting the things I need to feel 100%. They know it too, but at this point there is little option I am fighting my own body which manufacters plenty of Insulin but refuses to actually use it for its intended purpose. I have naturally high blood pressure. I also don't properly emliminate trigs from my system, and in fact my body manufacteurs more of them appearently than it can properly handle. I ahve been told its for this reason that good cholesterol can't do its job properly. Its forced out of my system first and the bad stuff gets to stick around. One of the daily pills is massive doses of the good stuff in the form of Fish Oils and Flax Oil which tries to restore the balance.
...as a result of a few health issues I have basically eliminated sugar and caffine from my diet, eat probably 90% fruits and veggies now, only drink water, little to no beef, and take a million (it seems) pills for vitimins and such a day. Well I can't get enough sleep now...I fall asleep at 9:30-10:00 if i can manage to stay awake that long. I still have to wake up at 6:30 for work, but always wake up still exhausted now...I feel tired most of the day and basically can't wait to get home and just go to bed...so much for a healthy life stly being good for you...but hey if ya wanna sleep.
...include the Ebook in the purchase of the deadtree version. Don't compete co-exist...in time people might start buying the Ebook instead of the dual format if the ebooks price is attractive.
Just my humble opinion and I have admittedly not read the peice yet, but...
Cost: The reader has to have a reasonable price, it should not cost as much as a PDA, or in fact even a quarter as much as a PDA just to read text for a stright reader. The books themselves should be the cost of a paperback or lower.
Presentation: The testt should be clear, readable, and comfortable to the eye to read. I have seen a few readers, especially when using a PDA where this is not true. Unfortunately its a trade off, in three directions. Size of the reader, size of the font, and over all length of a line of text. Hint: the lines of text and he font should be about he same as in a paperback book. Although for a reasonable cost I'd be more than wiulling to purchase a reader that approximated the page size and font size of a hardcover as thats a much more comfortable reading format for me.
Portability: Two means the 1. ability to easily carry around the reader 2. the ability to move the book between several readers easily...say Laptop to desktop, to dedicated reader, to PDA...
Quotability: The ability to cut and paste passages from the book. This would be great for tech books so you could grab example code and paste it stright into your editor. This would also emcompass printability as well..
Threat to shoot him is illegal under the patriot act. He can call the local authorities and have him arrested if he has the threat properly documented....might as well use the peice of crap legistation for something useful.
...and nither is it totally out of the ordinary either... Linus hung out on the 2.0,2.2 kernels before truely turning them over to a new person for a long time. 2.4 was really the first that he jumped out of quickly because he had ideas that truely shouldn't have been going into the "stable" kernel.
I have a windows machine as the primary, It runs IE 6.01sp1 currently...we also have a test lab with machines with IE machine 5.0 on them. My machine also runs netscape 7 (I have dropped 4/6 support its no longer current enough to care in my book), Mozilla and Firefox. I have a Linux machine with the same + Konquer. I don't test Mac its not relative for the environment.
This is a standards nightmare of course since none of these all impliment the DOM, or CCS in exactly the same way. Don't even get me started on the whole Javascript thing between browser makers. That one thing getting standardized, would simplifiy my life so much I scream for it...Make Java/Emca Script work the same in all broswers...it sounds so simple.

I just missed Graduating in the 80's...and I like very little 80's music, which my wife gives me relentless crap about since her idea of 80's music and mine differ wildly. The Bulk of 80's music that I think defines the era (with the exception of Billy Joel, I just like him for some reason) is the Heavy Metal stuff...some of greast works from Metal and Hard Rock (not sure where Rush falls in) are the work in the 80's...not the Glam rock bands, but the guys who really knew how to rock...Glam rock had its place, but it hurt the hell out of the respectability of the hard/Heavy Music style, metal light so to speak...

Late Feb early March as I remember...
Went to Newbury Comics and bought a CD with it the next day...
..which is a crock of shit...if your going to Virtualize spend the extra $60 bucks and get VMWare workstation.
Its better supported (they update several times a year)
It Supports NON-MS OS'es offically.
Its more robust.
Has a Linux Version which actually cuts the requirements by 25%-50% over the windows version.
