I ran in to that (driving ban) a few years ago myself after my '70 Impala ate it's third tranny. Until I can afford a real TH400 instead of some junk yard special, the big green beast is sidelined.
Yeah, they have all these proof of concept/studies on that site but then have to partner with industry to really get a full scale system going. That can take time.
And yeah, they're doing work on H2 storage/transportation/usage but to my mind, that's almost like reinventing the wheel. We already have an energy distribution system in place: Electricity. Seems like storing H2 production in large (underground?) containers near power plants and then just charging up urban electric vehicles would make more sense. But then, I'm just an art school dropout so what do I know.
Sandia Labs is working on a system that uses solar energy to capture CO/CO2 and convert it back to hydrocarbons. Will be interesting to see if they can get it to scale and what efficiencies they get.
It's just this month that my company's finally put a block on external access to IE6 and started requiring IE7/8 for offiste web use. We do have a sandboxed IE6 on a VM for users of internal web apps that still don't work with IE7/8. Will probably be around for another year or so. This is an org with 15k users and money to spend on developers but because the requirements of no down time on these web apps (related to gov't record keeping requirements), it's taking a long time to get things updated.
Setting up a bunch of folks with glowing tattoos and tapping in to their display control network so you can use them for a giant living game of Tetris?
We do the AD/OD join with Macs at my shop. Work pretty well with 10.6 and mostly ok with 10.5 but 10.4 on down? Forget it!
Also, Apple will license OS X Server for use on a VM. They won't license the desktop OS. Go figure.
