    It's a mileage may vary type of thing, much like many other things in life. For me, I was at 110-150wpm error free back a few years ago. I switched over to dvorak, and was easily hitting 200wpm error free. Now a days(after I broke my back), due to poor muscle control and poor sense of touch, it doesn't matter too much. But I do find dvorak easier to type on and less of a strain especially when I'm having muscle weakness.

    They'd have to be stolen by handlers and this would be pretty stupid (although some are that stupid, they always get caught).

    Sorry they don't always get caught, a few years ago there was an issue at Pearson(YYZ) where handlers were stealing luggage, and passing it though to people who were entering illegal onto the airport property. RCMP got involved, and a whole pile of other stuff. Eventually they were caught, but as best as they can figure it had been on-going for 5 years.

    Wow really? Talk about being out to lunch. I'm sure you also believe that they "rigged the election." As a fun and useful note, the only side that was actually charged with that one was the Liberals. And seeing as how the case with regards to the conservatives went all the way to the supreme court(which is stacked with liberal appointees) and found some, but no total evidence. Well I guess that's that.

    I'd also hazard you're one of the line9 nutbars while we're at it. Who believes that oil flowing in the opposite direction is bad.

    Quite true. He, though like many in the egyptian military are US trained, and have a decent understanding of a secular way of life. Seems that this is paying off. Not to mention of course that the entire group that was elected into power had *no* idea of how to run a country, except into the ground.

    Well you can drop $15/year up here in Canada and get a 120GB w/128MB of memory for a virtual server in whatever processor flavor you want. Depending on the company too, I've seen it for half of that.

    In general union membership rises when companies start rolling over workers. Which is what happened during the early 20th, things got progressively better. And we'll probably see an increase again in the next decade especially as companies push for "more work for less pay" that's becoming the norm. Unions themselves though especially public sector unions have a serious credibility gap though.

    One can only hope that their consitution that was drafted a year ago was suspended. Being that Morsi basically gave himself "el presedente" type powers, and imposed islam as the backbone of the country, and sharia law as the "founding law of the land." Yep, I shit you not on that one.

    Go ahead and see how well that's worked out in the last year oki? With open attacks on copts, who don't pay the jizya tax. And of course their value only being worth half of that of a muslim. Or the massive upswing in attacks against women, you know because they're worth less than that of a man. And with other things that were being brought up in the courts such as requiring male witnesses for rape and other sexual assaults, morality police, "virtue" police to ensure women were pure(aka haven't had sex). I'm sure that it was turning into a great place...which is why they're having another revolution.

    Nope. I live in a rural area(city of ~30k rural pop ~120k), and my local hospital has had zero issues or outbreaks of MRSA. Though the nearby cities of London and Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge here in Ontario, have all had problems of MRSA. If you don't want to get it, you need to go to a hospital that has good microbiological controls in place.

    Yes that's true. But it seems to be also true that the battery is quite recyclable.

    Yeah...ever been to, or watched large scale battery recycling? Even lead-acid types, it's not very energy efficient or environmentally friendly.

    One of the reasons I advised my customers against Windows 8 is how many programs i found that run fine on 7, crap themselves on 8.

    So, want to list the programs? I've found one program in nearly a year of using it and it was an outdated version of Gamemaker Pro which was fixed in a subsequent release by developers. Hell even some programs that I had from the early '00's and '90's will work under 8, where they wouldn't work at all under XP or 7, and this has proven more-so true with games.

    Gee, I wonder why they've stopped showing DirectX / OS numbers? Everything else loads fine, but anything that might indicate operating system choice is suspiciously absent

    Being realistic, Steam occasionally fudges out and they break the hardware survey, back hmm 6 months ago? Maybe 8 months ago they introduced a bug relating to CPU speed and it being unselectable as it lumped all CPU types together. Usually when they figure out where and when it went wrong they'll post an update stating that "x period hardware survey has had x issue." And seeing that it's been a 2month period it does look like it's a DX parsing bug.

    I don't know if they could get it much faster, after I installed the update to my bios fully supporting UEFI, I was right around 7seconds on the OS after post on a 1st gen SSD. Where they're going to trim and get a faster boot time even from that I have no freaking clue.

    You have an exceptionally twisted definition of "exceptionally violent." The alleged bridge bomber may not even have been part of Occupy. And most of the violence I read about during the protests was cops against protesters. Not to mention probable infiltration by the FBI by people who actually did harmful things to make the protesters look bad.

    Uh. Let's see, he was part of the Occupy inner-circle, members from said group "occupy x"(I can't remember off the top of my head if it was occupy philly or ohio) showed up at the court house to cheer him on. There were 500+ assaults in the first 3 weeks, several dozen rapes, massive(over 2300 cases for vandalizing public and private property). Several dozen firebombings, and so on.

    Note to mention that the "terrorist tea party" hasn't been marked out in any such form, even though the media has been riding on it since day one. Perhaps you should pay attention a bit more?

    I think you're missing the context. The GP stated that Occupy was non-violent, I countered on the other hand that it was exceptionally violent. At no point, did I suggest assassinating anyone was a-okay or that I agreed in principal with it. Rather that the GP's view was wrong on them being fluffy bunnies.

    Computers are expensive? Really? When I'll bet those same people are willing to drop $500-600+tax for a console. They don't want to spend the $400-600 to build themselves a new computer. Yep, genius level thinking there.

    Occupy is far from non-violent, in fact it's exceptionally violent. Note the arsons, theft, public and private property destruction and the attempted bombing of a bridge in Ohio.

    Valve has to do something to counter this, or else they'll be going the way of Netscape and Winamp. Turning linux into a gaming platform or launching their own linux-based console are options. Very high-risk options, but this is a 'bet the company' moment.

    Until Valve starts screwing up royally, Valve doesn't have to do much. It's garnered enough goodwill all on it's own, unlike MS.

    Unlikely. Automation has not lead to mass unemployment in the past, and there is little reason to think this time will be any different.

    Really? Well it's one of those things that is really hard to figure out. Though if we take queues from the auto industry here in North America where they went from manual labor to automation, and if we say don't count those who maintained their jobs by internal shifting, and instead count them as people who would have been unemployed. It's probably around 10-14%, give or take a bit. Though, that people are moved around inside companies to fill other positions heavily off-sets this, usually it means that 1-3% from said companies only end up losing their jobs due to either a lack of jobs, attrition/buyouts, retirement and so on.

    Claiming that an entire global profession are corrupted and paid-for shills (or worse- actively evil (depending on how metaphorical/literal the phrase has been meant)) is somewhere between inflammatory rhetoric and tinfoil-hat conspiracy.

    Except when you can see it right out in the open. Hear much on the "hockey stick" theory recently? Or how about the mysterious disappearing MEP? Which was deliberately removed by some in the profession in order to 'even out' the numbers. How about the IPCC report full of errors including using stats based on...nothing, by NGO's? Then we can get into the various NGO's who outright lie in order to drum up funds and fear monger.

    That's not really surprising. I used to bake quite a bit and used banana's in quite a bit of it. It's similar to baked cheese cake, how do you make it so creamy and smooth? Add sour cream.
