  1. Paper worth is not the same thing as money in the bank. Bezos would love nothing more then to liquidate his assets so he can fund his pet projects but he can only sell about 1Billion worth of his Amazon stock holdings a year without negatively affecting the stock price, at this rate it will take about a century to liquidate his assets and that's assuming that the price of Amazon stock remains stable

  2. Just remember to factor in the price of a replacement battery in the equation. Unfortunately batteries degrade naturally over time due to the cathode oxidizing. The number of charging cycles and temperature conditions greatly affect this process.

FYI If you are storing a device with a battery charge it to %50 and leave it in cool place. Unfortunately even under ideal conditions the battery will continue to degrade

The U.S military has a complicated mandatory retirement system for high ranking officers to prevent exactly this sort of stagnation

Practically all casual dinning chains have been experiencing declining in-store traffic for the past decade. As in any competitive industry, they must adapt to the consumers ever-chaning preferences or risk being left in the dust. In NYC we have started seeing the rise of the delivery-only establishments. The delivery apps allow them to advertise and sell their products without the expense of a "storefront," which is heavily reliant on liquor/drinks sales for profitability

You can get cheap unskilled labor in the Midwest. The educated, experienced labor force you need to run a multi-national is hard to find there. The lower taxes and cheaper living in those states come with the trade-off of lower spending on education, infrastructure and cultural institutions all of which are very important to the highly sought out employees companies like Amazon need. Most companies that look into moving into cheaper states end up scraping their plans once they figure out that most of their core employees are unwilling to move to the proposed locations even with generous incentives

You seem to have the huge misconception that hunter-gather's simply wonder around aimlessly, wherever the path may take them. That is completely untrue, tribes had home ranges which they knew like the back of their hands. If they had to travel outside known territory, where they didn't know where water, hunting grounds, danger areas, safe places to camp were located than they would definitely not be doing 500 miles a year. Most of their time would be spent scouting, gathering resources and planning the next (short) leg of the journey

I have turned off plenty of Oscar winning movies and yet seat thru countless hours of horrible sci-fi, quite contently. Netflix knows this, that's why they turned off the star rating system.

Critics should probably follow suite and drop rating systems as well. You will gain a lot more insight on weather this is the sort of movie you will enjoy by spending a few minutes reading a critical review then by looking up % on rotten-tomatoes

Because at the end of the day I can uninstall Uber but once the government mandates phone tracking for safety they'll know where you are forever for whatever reason they want.

They don't have to track your phone unless you dial 911. This is baseless FUD. Uber doesn't need your location unless you call for Uber. It is a trivial exercise to prevent either Uber or the government from receiving location data unless you contact.

If the government starts proposing a law to track you at all times then by all means get worked up about it. (yes that includes the NSA) That's a very different discussion. If I'm calling 911 I WANT them to have an accurate fix on my location. This should be a non issue. Fears about government overreach in this case are misplaced and demonstrably costs lives.

First. Any law mandating gps use for e911 would most certainly make it illegal to have a turn-off option. Unlike Uber, Government can do that. If you think I'm just being paranoid, try and find an option to block Presidental alert level notifications on any phone.

Second. Do you really believe that once the capability is in place, DHS will not go to a FISA court to request sealed warrants for location tracking using the system? Even local PD gets triangulation warrants nowdays
