So acting in a crappy fashion, as long as they can make a buck means they should be excluded from criticism???? Stop justifying every unethical and alarming encroachment of privacy by saying, just because they make money, that makes it A-OK.

I am a manager for a Texas State Agency and have a backround as a Sys Admin for over 5 years. I manage a staff of 5 and have some insight into this. Wheather you are trained in IT or management doesnt mean you are gonna excel in either (My excellent Network Admin is a pre-med graduate). Good people skills and resource management skills make good managers, and good tech skills make good tech people. If you are lucky to have both then you can do both. But one doenst follow the other.

Being a manager isnt the panacea that some think it is. I now have a whole new set of problems. You are always gonna have to deal with a unique set of problems wherever you work. Hopefully you have the mental faculties to deal with them.

Then why the H#ll offer broadband if your going to over-charge people who take advantage of it? If you are going to offer a service to people, you had better be able to provide it at 100% satisfaction. If not, you dont belong in business and you wont succeed, ask any small business person. The problem here is that these cable modem companies want something for nothing. They want end-users to have bandwidth needs equal to that of a modem, while charging 2-3 times as much. If ISPs only want end-users to use a certain amount of bandwidth, then lets see them advertise that, instead of the "up 24/7" stuff we see all the time.

I went to the Johnson Space Center in Houston where Dr Chang-Diaz had his laboratory at the time. He conducted a tour and showed off the test engine they were doing research on. The cool thing was the big round magnets situated around the cylindrical assembly. Reminded me very much of a warp coare on it side. Another thing Dr Chang-Diaz mentioned not in the article, was that the strong magnetic field given off by the magnets in a full scale engine, would generate a large magnetic field around the ship, which he speculated might be useful for deflecting dust and micro-meteorites during the voyage. He was a really smart guy and very eager to show off all his work during the tour.
