It is a great twist of logic to put a wooden house in the backyard and then say it is holding up the house. I dont think this is the example you were meaning to relate.
You can blame the damn War on Drugs, coupled with the fact that these guys get free military equipment. Some small ass town of 1000 people probably has a police dept. with a tank.
I believe they were about to go under and they got propped up by the DOE and the Obama Administration. They've already paid everything off and now they are of course doing a good job of keeping it going.
There are plenty of people who want to do the right thing they dont' all have to be treehuggers. And I commend some of them who have stopped logging and allowed us to use a more sustainable living. The fringe have their uses.
They'll do it too. The marketing guys tell me in Portland they are selling about 4-5 cars per marketing rep (at maybe 2 or 3 there) per week. (I think it was a week, could be a month) Teslas have become more and more common place in Portland.
I bet I could open it faster than fvwm or twm. GNOME 3.14 is even faster now than 3.12 when it comes to doing those overview searches.

GNOME 3.14 Released
·
· Score: 3, Interesting
Most of the devs are still hte same people who made GNOME 2. There are no 'hipsters'.
Let me add this little tidbit:
SLED/SLES changed their default DE to GNOME. It's right there in the GNOME press release. You know why? Because more people are using GNOME than KDE. Here is something else, according to some folks within suse, opensuse also has more GNOME 3 users than other DEs, but they decided not to piss anybody off and didn't change the default. GNOME now has a full sweep of all the major distro except Ubuntu.
Basically, people are finding that more poeple use GNOME than anything else on at least SLED/SLES and opensuse.
You're going to re-engineer your entire environment with a new distro because Debian changed the 'default' *back* to what it was 6 months ago? Why the hell would you create work for yourself? You know hating a project is one thing, but there is nothing in these install process that forces you to use GNOME.
Anyways, it is your work environment. But this mentality is pretty crappy. Your work environment should not be used as some kind of political statement to GNOME or Debian.
No, it uses all of GNOME's stack except for the shell. They originally forked gnome-shell and modified that and other parts of the GNOME stack. Now I think they have their own UI not based on GNOME shell. But the rest is still there. You can't create an entire DE with just GTK+. Even if it is just GTK+ it is still supported by the GNOME project since all the maintainers are all GNOME folks.
Uh.. you do realize that Cinnamon uses GNOME's codebase right? It's like wishing your upstream would go away so you would what? Take over development of everything instead?
I think after 3 years, I don't think GNOME is new anymore.
And now you'll be paying again since Netflix will pass the costs to you.
The first real post that has any relevant information. Thanks for shining light not generating heat.

In Russia, Unix design philosophy violates you!
David Hermann is awesome. Wrote some really interesting stuff.

Which is why Netflix is now producing their own damn shows and doing a fairly decent job of it.
Yeah I refused to pay 150 dollars for stock that I know is mostly speculation.

You don't use your mouse, you use your fingers on your touchscreen.. I'm not sure how you mapped 'touchscreen' to mouse gestures?
That's exactly what it is.

What's the point of changing the runlvel to 3 on a gnome demo iso?

Yes, but one shouldn't wish ill on an upstream project. :)
Please tell us, oh Anonymous Coward what you revealed in your investigations?
The next version of Unity will use QT. There is no influence.
You are still using GNOME, just not the desktop bit.

I ain't no noob!
