And no matter how strong the temptation, no matter what you feel your justification is, no matter how badly you'd like to tell them off, resign in a calm, professional manner. This world is too damn small to say "First of all, you ain't no good, never been no good, you smell like old wet cheese, you pay shit ...." - those words WILL come back to haunt you (like, the *next* time you go to look for a new job, and prospective employers are calling this guy!) Make sure you give them your two weeks (they may offer to let you go immediately or ask that you continue to work - be ready either way).

I found this out from a friend of mine that was fired once. All the former company legally can give a prospective employer is the start date and termination date. If you find out they said anything else, it is the former company's arse.

I have to agree. I don't buy CD's but I don't download either. The worst thing that I could have seen was an episode of Cribs on MTV the night the Grammys were being awarded a few years ago. My wife and I were switching between the two. The guy who was President or CEO at the time, I don't remember which, came out talking about the 3 kids they had downloading music for 3 days. I'm sure the /. crowd will remember this. The kids managed to download like 6000 songs in the few days..blah blah blah. And he goes on to talk about how this is destroying the industry...blah blah blah. Anyways, as he is doing this we turn back to Cribs and there is Babyface, a SONGWRITER more than an artist showing off his house with marble floors, the huge pool. It was quite a fine house. Then, as we watched more, there was guy with 24 karat gold faucets. That is right FAUCETS. The thing we all take for granted that most of us use to get a drink of water or turn on to take a bath. His were 24 karat FUCKING GOLD. Now someone please tell me how am I supposed to feel guilty about not buying music over downloading it and burning it. It made me madder than hell to watch that and then have to hear this guy tell me how the music industry was hurting. All I could ask is where is it hurting? That was the night I stopped listening to commericial radio. I try to listen to either college stations or other public stuff.

If you are tired of being his "moneybags" then quit buying his stuff. Simple answer. None of us are forced to buy any of his movies, toys, ect. George is all about making money, don't think for a second he isn't. If issuing that extra Anakin figure can make him a buck, I say go for it. Why bitch about something when you are just as much the cause of it as the creator is?

First, I didn't get in to CS "because of money." I got in to it because I liked video games and wanted to work on them. Shit happens and your loves change. Especially after working tech support for 5 fucking years. It really makes you dislike ppl...I'll save that for another post. The point is life throws your curves and you have to sometimes rethink shit. I still love video games, but I don't really want to work on them. I just want to play them. Currently, I am writing web apps for the tech support department where I work. So as far as a "wannabe", you should look elsewhere.

Amen to this. I know alot of people that are in this situation, myself included. The biggest problem is know what killed that love. For me, it was working tech support. Now, I'm stuck in tech support, not much love for computers and trying to pick up the pieces and figure out where to go next.
