I realize that, but the sentence "Although they're supposed to compete with Intel's Itanium chips, they only run at 900MHz" implies that the Itanium runs faster than 900mhz... that is what i was referring to. I didn't really get the point of that sentence since they are both 64-bit chips, and if anything, the Sparc should be faster clock-for-clock than the Itanium.

Cool, thanks, I wish I was more up to date on Mac hardware/software like I used to be. Actually, I'm an advocate of the "multiple virtual terminals in a graphical interface" way of doing things, in my original post I was just trying to say that having a command line only option would please the OTHER people out there who insist on not having the Aqua/X/whatever graphical interface.

Last I heard, Apple was still planning to include some sort of command line interface for "Advanced Users" if they wanted to install it. How hard would it be to set up an option in the installer for "command line only"? They already have Darwin, which is command-line only, so apparently it's possible to separate the Aqua prettiness from the command line. I think if they offered this option it would please a lot of the server admins out there and would increase OSX's viability as a server platform.

Slashdot: Given that Amiga's original big sell was stereo sound and multimedia capabilities, how do you feel about BeOS?

Wayne: Nice try, but no cigar. Be had a good idea, they wanted to make a media OS. It's obviously a hybrid between MacOS and AmigaOS. When it was there and ready, nobody came. It's a bit of a pity really, because it's not a bad OS at all. But if they can pull their act together, well, good on them, but I don't really see that happening too soon.
Agreed. I have used BeOS off and on for about a year now, and the OS is wonderful, but the lack of those "killer apps" is what keeps me from using it regularly. Amiga needs to consider this and learn from Be's mistakes in order to thrive in the market.
