I find it interesting that they went to all the trouble of making it 'just work', and promoting it as a Linux laptop, yet it still has a Microsoft Windows logo on the keyboard. Fail.
This is pretty much what I do. However, over time my habits have moved most content over to my 27" monitor and using the laptop screen for things I have to reference on occasion, such as calendars, IM status of my colleagues, etc.
Stop worrying about how beautiful your laptop screen is, in the configuration you are hoping for you will ultimately stop regular usage of it. If you have a 27" monitor, then you'll want to keep it a good arms-length away from you, and placing your laptop on a stand will put it at the perfect height for occasional reference.
Enjoy your beautiful laptop screen when you're being a road warrior and don't have access to an external monitor....
I have much the same opinions - my excuse is that I respect the concept of free software, but also feel that life's too short to become a religious zealot and base my existence around it to the exclusion of everything else. I feel there's room for FOSS (FLOSS... whatever) and commercial software to exist. If we were all following RMSs philosophy to the letter of his law, then there would have been no growth in this industry and we'd all be fetching web sites via email. I would hope that eating unidentifable bits from between our toes would be optional though.
Yes, USD was specified - doesn't mean it has to actually follow the format. I could say "60,000 Euro" and it might seem unusually formatted to a German. Basically, just get over it - it was either a typo, or the submitter was from a country that has different formats - we're all intelligent (might be a bit of an optimistic assumption I suppose) people here....
Submitter could be from any of these countries....
Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada (French-speaking), Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia (comma used officially, but both forms are in use elsewhere), Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Estonia, Faroes, Finland, France, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Greenland, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kirgistan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg (uses both marks officially), Macau (in Portuguese text), Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa (officially[15]), Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam.

Dear s73v3r,
First, settle down..... Second, the latest MBP range does not include an internal SuperDrive (DVD), so I'm not sure how 'new' the Apple laptop is that you are looking at... If you had actually read my comment you would see that it says "the latest MacBook Pro models". Now, take your outrage and go and do something useful with it.
I replaced the DVD drives in my Apple MBP & work laptop with SSD drives. Simple. OK, maybe not so simple in the latest MacBook Pro models, which is one of the reasons why I am done with Apple hardware.
Why am I not surprised that Nick Montfort is involved in this? He's the most pompous and pretentious author around. He's made a living out of glorifying retro technology in glowing terms - this latest effort is just typical of his approach that there is something deep and mystical about randomly generating characters on a c64 screen.

I think you just described Reddit, and perhaps most other forum sites too...

Yet still they are trying to sneak the "Ask" toolbar in there.....
I'm going to capture one and name it "Gary".
It was an opportunity wasted in TFA.

I find it sad that anyone would actually "open up a map" to know this...

Third, get over yourself... My point was, who gives a fuck...?
And you do it with such style and grace... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G51CWlKLMyE
My assumption was clearly too optimistic....

It's posted by 'timothy', what else were you expecting?
Shit, now I have Jaques Brel songs in my head....
Hey, how about a 30-year-old woman? If the Hef can do it...
I still have my original Mr. Men collection. The Mr. Rush book is signed by Neil Peart, Geddy Lee, and Alex Lifeson... :-)
