  1. Re:Worried about being fined for speeding? on IEEE Building Automotive Black-Box Standard · · Score: 1

This is kind of on topic. Here is how to avoid getting speeding tickets on your record so it doesn't make your insurance go up:

When you get a speeding ticket, pay the amount plus one dollar, by mail, unless you are going to contest it. The state that you live in will send you a check back for the overpaid amount. DO NOT cash this check. Just rip it up and throw it out. This will cause the case to stay open indefinately which means your violation will never be tacked to your driving record thus it will never be reported to your insurance company which means your rate will not go up. Phewwwww! That was a mouthful. This was told to me by a laywer friend and does work in Rhode Island. Don't blame me if it doesn't work in your state.

I highly doubt they will put those into consumer autos when they first hit the market. Too much of a waste of resources because the ratio of cars on the road to the ones that get in accidents is low. I see them going into commercial and public service vehicles. I would love to see those tractor-trailer truckers slow down!

  3. Its sickening! on Perception of Linux Among IT Undergrads · · Score: 1

I attend the Univ. of RI and I am a CE major. Its nauseaing to see all the incoming freshmen, even sophmores and juniors that have no clue about Unix based OSs in general. The only thing these kids know is AOL, MS and all the other mai-stream, shoved in there faces crap. Thier gonna get a big slap in the face when they graduate and start looking for jobs. I use everything and have no preference. I believe that the big 3, Unix, Linux, and Windows, are good in some areas and founder in others. I don't know about the tech support hting though. I usually just RTFM! :)

  5. This site has some good ones.... on Rolling Your Own Laptop? · · Score: 1

I know you are trying to build one yourself but I found a site that sells Linux friendly laptops. QliTech Linux You can even customize one and they'll build it to your (picked from a list) specs. The 2 set models they have come with ethernet built-in. Wireless ethernet (802.11b) options are avalible. A little pricey though and the standard models are a bit excessive in the hardware department for what you are looking for(ie: 20 gig harddrive, 1GHz P3). I think may be good for others who don't have the stomach for what you are attempting!

Yeah Sudden Strike rules! One of the only games out there where you really use your noodle, or just send snipers in to wipe out the heavy artillery and officers! The expansion should be out by now. It has African Campiagn missions. I gotta go check.
