    Do you have an API to fetch the hosts file directly without using the windows software? I don't run any windows...

    I'm thinking about taking your hosts file and running it through a script to create a dnsmasq or bind config so then I can run it as a local resolver for my home network (consisting of non-changeable devices like a Wii).

    IntelliJ IDEA is even better. I don't even look at import statements anymore or even think about what libraries I'm using.

    If you copy/paste some code from another class, all the dependencies are added automatically to the new class.

    Even adding a new library to a Maven project is trivial in IntelliJ. You just start typing the name in the pom and a list of libraries and versions pop up, defaulting to the most recent stable release.

    Getter/Setter/Constructor/toString/equals/hashcode -- they're all auto-generated for you as needed.

    It is annoying that all this "fluff" exists in the language, but a good IDE hides it; getters/setters are collapsed to a single line; import statements hidden by default, endless customization in how your code looks so you can ignore the fluff and focus on the important stuff.

    If only APK would spend his time developing a DNS service we could all use for free instead of client software. (Push the hosts file to the DNS resolver that ALL devices use.)

    If the "smart TV" uses it's own DNS, simply block all outbound port 53 traffic other than your router itself.

    For fake domains and URLs you should always use the RFC approved "example.tld" such as https://myproxy.example.org/...

    It's a bummer browsers haven't enabled DANE yet. You can try an experimental addon for firefox. Good news is Postfix supports DANE for email!

    Exactly this, and it still happens today with Open Arena. It's how I find and play great new maps on a regular basis. Join servers with active players who already vetted them for me.

    I was thinking the same thing. Gentoo has decent support for dependencies, better than Upstart in my opinion, and was working years earlier.

    Looks like Gentoo will also support systemd.

    To compete with Google [Chrome] they need to not rely on Google for 90% of their funding.

    As long as the ads are clearly marked with no privacy implications (no pre-fetch of those sponsored tiles that sends cookies, exec's javascript, pings 40 trackers, etc.) then I support the move.

    It's sad, but if Mozilla dies, will any free software group fill their void? The Net would never be the same...

    So does "Paleo" involve capturing wild goats or sheep, feeding and milking them for many days to get enough cream to make butter?

    I guess it depends how long in the past we are talking about. Early nomadic people didn't have domesticated animals they herded around. Even the dog is only ~ 30k years old.

    Try exercise for a minimum of 6 weeks about 3-4 times a week (something you like, sports or even walking on the golf course) and you'll find you /want/ to do more of it. And if your mind and body are in shape, the last 10 years might not be so bad.

    Cut the butter, cheese, and sour cream from the paleo diet, unless "paleo" now includes domesticated animals and stationary time to ferment and age milk (like agrarian). You might be thinking of another fad diet: Atkins.

    I have no idea how those work, I would assume the channel guide is an external web service and is not hosted by the Actiontec router.

    It's worth a try, you can always restore the router to it's default. It's not like you're flashing the firmware of the Actiontec, just changing some settings.

    Do the same thing. Setup the Actiontec to ONLY speak DSL and pass through the PPPoE connection to your router of choice. Thus your router of choice does the PPPoE authentication, and does NAT, and optionally wifi. As it now knows your external IP every time it changes, it can more easily use various dynamic DNS providers.
