I was offered a raise by the company that I worked for because I had gained certifications, additional skills and had a decent level of seniority. The UFCW stepped in and told them that they could not give me the raise because it was unfair to the other union members. I argued against the union but the only way for me to get the raise was to quit for 30 days and get rehired at the new rate, but I would lose all of my seniority. So I quit. In the interim, the Union told my company that it was unfair to hold the position for me, and made the company fill it.

You can always make an adroid build that remembers last radio state so that it boots in whatever mode you last had it in.
Having been a soldier in the field, I can tell you that alot of things would have made life a hell of alot easier if we had smart phones. Instead of carrying around various commo equipment, in addition to GPS units, as well as photographic equipment for reconnaissance, which, my HD2 can do, a smart phone can make getting to your destination easier, more accurate, gather intel, send that intel immediately to HQ as well as stay in communications with them.
With that being said, there would need to been a HELL of alot of tweaking and tuning to ensure the safety of those personnel carrying them.

On the other hand, the rich guy buying his kids BMWs would have his fair share of the bill. Given, in most states he pays a sales tax, but that is minor compared to what he saved in income taxes.
Lest we forget, the articles bespeaking just how many corporations and CEO's pay less than the national average in tax as well as a number of them that claim negative tax statements, were posted here and elsewhere very recently. My CEO made $47M last year, yet we cut nearly 50% of our IT staff and have 2 more whole departments being tossed out in the next few months and we are scrambling to find budget to hire back a fraction of what we lost because we direly need them.
Spending needs to be cut at the state and federal level, the spending ALSO needs to be appropriated to the correct areas (education, safety, public services) while the tax burden needs to be shared by all.
